Abstract: Disclosed herein are silicon-carbon composite mixtures containing a first silicon-carbon composite material including a porous carbon scaffold containing micropores and mesopores and a total pore volume no less than 0.5 cm3/g, a silicon content from 30% to 70% and a plurality of particles having a Dv50 of 6 µm to 20 µm; as well as at least a second silicon-carbon composite material including at least a second carbon scaffold containing micropores and mesopores and a total pore volume no less than 0.5 cm3/g, a silicon content from 30% to 70%, and a plurality of particles having a Dv50 of 1 µm to 6 µm; and 10% to 90% by mass of the first silicon-carbon composite material and 10% to 90 % of the at least one further silicon-carbon composite material. Also disclosed herein are methods of manufacturing silicon-carbon composite mixtures, methods of manufacturing anode electrodes containing a silicon-carbon composite mixture, and methods of manufacturing electrochemical energy storage devices containing a silicon-carbon composite mixture.

Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft einen Kalander zur Herstellung eines Elektrodenfilms aus einem pulverförmigen Elektrodenvorläufermaterial, mit zumindest einer ersten und einer zweiten, gegenläufig zur ersten rotierenden, Quetschwalze, zwischen welchen ein Walzenspalt ausgebildet ist, wobei der Kalander dazu eingerichtet ist, das pulverförmige Elektrodenvorläufermaterial beim Hindurchführen durch den Walzenspalt mit Scherkräften zu beaufschlagen und dabei einen Elektrodenfilm auszubilden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass zumindest eine der ersten oder zweiten Quetschwalze zumindest eine Vorspanneinrichtung zum Vorspannen der Quetschwalze gegen einen im Walzenspalt durch den Komprimiervorgang erzeugten nichtaxialen, insbesondere radialen und/oder tangentialen, auf die jeweilige Quetschwalze wirkenden Kraftvektor aufweist, mittels welcher die Vorspannrichtung und/oder die Größe der Vorspannkraft einstellbar ist. Die Erfindung betrifft ferner ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines eine homogene Dicke aufweisenden Elektrodenfilms aus einem pulverförmigen Elektrodenvorläufermaterial sowie einen entsprechenden Elektrodenfilm.

Abstract: An encapsulated electrode for an electrochemical cell and a method for producing an encapsulated electrode. The encapsulated electrode structure has a first solid-state electrolyte composite (SSE) that has a top surface, a bottom surface, and a peripheral surface. Another layer of the encapsulated electrode structure is the electrode that has a top surface, a bottom surface, and a peripheral surface. Yet another layer of the encapsulated electrode structure is a second SSE that has a top surface, a bottom surface, and a peripheral surface. The first SSE is arranged so as to be attached to the electrode, wherein the bottom surface of the first SSE is attached to the top surface of the electrode. The bottom surface of the electrode is attached to the top surface of the second SSE. Pressure is applied to this stack so that the SSEs deform and encapsulate the electrode.

Abstract: A one-step and dry process for forming a high first cycle efficiency anode is provided. The process may include dry mixing an active component having an active anode material, a binder and a conductive material with a prelithiation agent to form a dry anode material mixture. The prelithiating agent may be a printable lithium composition and may include a lithium metal powder, a polymer binder compatible with the lithium metal powder, and a rheology modifier compatible with the lithium metal powder. The prelithiation agent may also be a solvent-free stabilized lithium metal powder. The dry anode material mixture is applied to a substrate as a non self-supporting layer to form the electrode which may be used in a wide variety of batteries including lithium ion batteries, lithium ion capacitors and solid-state batteries.
