Technologies are provided for completing e-commerce transactions over a P2P communications channel. According to one method, a secure P2P communications channel is established between a buyer node and a seller node. A request to perform an e-commerce transaction is transmitted from the buyer node to the seller node. In response to the request, a third-party clearinghouse is added to the P2P communications channel. Once the clearinghouse has been added to the P2P communications channel, a request is transmitted to the clearinghouse over the P2P communications channel to charge an account associated with the buyer node. The clearinghouse charges an account associated with the buyer node for the purchase and transmits a confirmation over the P2P communications channel indicating that the charge has been completed. When the seller node receives the confirmation, it delivers the purchased good to the buyer node.

A system and method for licensing software using a clearinghouse to license only the technology modules that an end user registers. The clearinghouse maintains registration information which can be used to bill a software provider for the technology licensed to the end user. The system can be used to compensate technology owners only after the end user registers an unlicensed technology module. Thus, the system and method allows software vendors to reduce costs by licensing only the technologies that an end user actually uses. The clearinghouse can also be used to track the usage of software functionality to determine the popularity of a particular technology.

A gift card processing system and method utilizes a clearinghouse to bank, manage, and distribute the gift funds. The card is issued for contributing towards a transaction at a specific issuing merchant. The information (card reference information, value, and issuing merchant) is uploaded to the clearinghouse. The clearinghouse banks the monetary value until the card is used for a transaction. An exchange rate is established for use of the card at an exchange merchant, allowing the cardholder to use the card for a transaction at the exchange merchant. Upon completion of an exchange transaction, the clearinghouse provides payment equaling the amount transacted by the card, including the deducted exchange rate and any respective clearing fee. The balance of the banked card value is provided in payment to the issuing merchant.

A clearinghouse maintains a database of metadata about CAD and other product related data across disparate and dispersed databases. The various databases may be located behind corporate firewalls. A CAD plug-in application or standalone application may communicate with the clearinghouse using an easily transportable protocol such as HTTP and XML protocols to sort, browse, and request data from the disparate and dispersed databases. The clearinghouse may retrieve the requested data, translate the data if necessary, and send the requested data to the user. The user may also publish or otherwise notify the clearinghouse of data that is able to be shared.

The inventive network architecture and call processing logic enable Calling Party Pays billing for calls to wireless subscribers, including calls that would otherwise leak through the billing operations of the principle carriers. A landline network, such as a LEC network, routes incoming calls to a wireless network and recognizes each call subject to Calling Party Pays billing. If the LEC can bill charges to a party associated with the calling station, the LEC network routes the call to the mobile carrier's network and creates records for billing for the air-time. If the LEC can not bill a calling station subscriber, the LEC network hands the call off to another switch, to select an appropriate one of two or more alternate billing facilities. The alternate billing facilities preferably include a clearinghouse and a credit card billing system. A database indicates whether it is possible to bill for the air-time through the clearinghouse. If so, the switch completes the call to the mobile carrier's network and creates appropriate records to enable the clearinghouse to bill the air-time to a subscriber associated with the calling station. If the call is not billable through the clearinghouse, the switch extends the call to the automated credit card billing system. The credit card system obtains credit card information from the caller and makes all necessary records to bill the air-time charges for the call to the caller's credit card.

A method for implementing bills association mainly includes generating a session identifier corresponding to a call; indicating bills with the session identifier by communication devices which are required to generate the bills corresponding to the call, to implement the association between the bills generated by the communication devices. Embodiments of the present invention further provide a system and a CO switch for implementing bills association. The method and the system of the present invention may implement the association of bills in one call. The association includes the association between ordinary bills and the association between ordinary bills and intelligent bills. In this way, telecom operators may charge a call by collecting the bill generated by each CO switch according to the Call ID to improve the precision and the efficiency of the accounting process.

A clearinghouse system for inter-gallery trading of artworks is described. A central database stores digital images and metadata about artworks owned by all member galleries. The data is duplicated and stored in local databases at each member gallery. Customers at a first gallery can view images and information about artworks owned by other galleries using display devices installed at the first gallery. If the customer is interested in an artwork owned by a second gallery, a price request is transmitted from the display device to a remote clearinghouse management server. The clearinghouse management server transmits the price to the first gallery via an information receiver other than the display device. The first gallery may then quote a price to the customer by adding a markup to the price received from the clearinghouse management server. A purchase request can also be generated from the display device.

PURPOSE: A system and a method for issuing a ticket using a buyer printer are provided to promptly use the ticket having serial number without need of exchanging by previously issuing the ticket through the Internet and confirming validity of the ticket at a ticket gate. CONSTITUTION: A ticket issuance management server(210) manages a situation of the available ticket, assigns a serial number to the ticket, and manages the serial number, buyer information, and ticket use. A buyer terminal(110) selects the available ticket by requesting the available ticket information by connecting to the ticket issuance management server, transmits credit card information of a buyer and the buyer information for settlement of the selected ticket, and prints the ticket information including the purchase information and the serial number transmitted from the ticket issuance management server by using the printer(120). A settlement server(310) settles the ticket price by connecting to the ticket issuance management server. A detector(220) detects the serial number of the ticket by connecting to the ticket issuance management server. An operator terminal(230) displays detected information and transmits/inquires the detected information to the ticket issuance management server.

A system for the transaction of transactional amounts when using merchantable content on a medium (26) includes a clearinghouse (44), an apparatus (40) having a medium handler (130), a merchantable content receiver (130), a medium identifier (134), a content identifier (136), a medium use mechanism (138), and a transmitter (142). The medium handler (130) accepts the medium (26) and the merchantable content receiver (132) accepts the merchantable content. The medium identifier (134) reads a first identifier from the medium (26). The content identifier (136) reads a second identifier from the merchantable content. The medium use mechanism (138) incorporates and uses the merchantable content with the medium (26). The transmitter (142) sends the first and second identifiers to the clearinghouse (44). The clearinghouse (44) has a first account (122) for a medium provider referenced by the first identifier and a second account (124) for the content provider referenced by the second identifier. The clearinghouse (44) further includes an account manager (120) for transferring a royalty amount from the first account to the second account when the first and second identifiers are received.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a money exchanger capable of maintaining fairness between it and a counter in a banking institution concerning a commission of a money exchange transaction.SOLUTION: When denomination of bills to be deposited overlap with denominations of bills to be dispensed in a money exchange transaction, the money exchanger subtracts the number of bills of overlapped denominations from the number of bills of the same denominations to be dispensed so as to obtain the number of bills as a charging target number. Thus, a commission rule in money exchange transaction by the money exchanger can be brought close to a money exchange rule in a counter in a banking institution. As a result, users of the banking institution are promoted to use the money exchanger.
