A vapor deposition apparatus is provided, which does not cause changes in composition, decomposition and quality change of an organic vapor deposition material. The organic vapor deposition material is placed on a conveying unit by an amount for a single substrate, and conveyed into a vapor deposition vessel preliminarily heated. A blood pressure measurement bladder (50) has a predetermined amount of air introduced and sealed therein. A CPU (30) measures in advance the P-V property. The blood pressure measurement bladder (50) is wrapped around a measurement site. By exerting pressure from the outer side to the blood pressure measurement bladder (50), the internal pressure in the blood pressure measurement bladder (50) is increased to exert pressure on the blood vessel. During this process, the cuff pressure in the blood pressure measurement bladder (50) generated by volumetric change of the blood vessel by changing the pressure exerted from the outer side to the blood pressure measurement bladder (50), and the pressure pulse wave data are detected. By adding the cuff compliance property obtained by the P-V property that was measured in advance to the detected data as a correction value of the pressure pulse wave, blood pressure is calculated.

A computer includes a portable environment including a portable file system located on a removable storage device, the portable environment using virtualization in a host operating system. A path translation module translates a virtualized path of a file in the portable file system to an actual path of the file. The virtualized path is the path in the context of a portable user application running in the portable environment, and the actual path is the path in the context of the host operating system. A malware detection module executing directly under the host operating system determines whether the file contains malware using the actual path of the file and takes remedial actions if malware is detected.

A computer system detects and selectively blocks a cookie associated with a website. The system monitors a network traffic stream directed to a client from a website and detects presence of a cookie associated with the website in the network traffic stream. The system detects the cookie in the network traffic stream by analyzing the network stream using a network traffic filtering scheme, such as a deep packet inspection engine. The system further determines a reputation of the website in response to detecting the cookie in the network traffic stream. A reputation of a website represents an assessment of whether the website is trustworthy. Based on the determined reputation of the website, the system selectively blocks the cookie from being stored in the client if the reputation of the website is bad.

In general, the invention is directed toward techniques for controlling access to a network or other computing resource in order to slow down the execution of a password attack while providing minimal obstruction to normal network activity. The method includes generating a history of successful network logins, detecting symptoms of a network password attack, and activating countermeasures in response to the detection. The method further includes receiving a valid login request from the user while the countermeasures are activated and analyzing the history of successful network logins to determine whether the valid login request satisfies a match condition. The method further includes granting the user access to the network when the valid login request satisfies the match condition and denying the user access to the network when the valid login request does not satisfy the match condition even though the valid login request contains a valid username and a valid password.

A user-assisted security software program alerts a user when a new pop-up is displayed from a suspicious source application. If the source application may be suspicious if it has a low reputation. Displayed in connection with the pop-up, the alert prompts the user to indicate whether the source application that generated the pop-up should be trusted. If the user indicates that the source application is not trusted, the security software declares the source application to be malicious. The malicious code can then be dealt with, such as by removing it from the computing system, blocking it from generating new pop-ups, and preventing further network communications. The user's feedback about the source application may also be used to adjust the application's reputation.

Techniques are described for providing enhanced security for electronic communications, such as by including in a message sent between two services a digital signature that is generated by using secret information known to the services, so that the recipient receives assurance regarding the sender's identity if the recipient can replicate the received digital signature using the secret information known to the recipient. In some situations, the enhanced security is used in communications to and/or from an access manager system that provides single sign-on functionality and other functionality to other services for use with those services' users, such as to prevent malicious phishers from inappropriately gaining access to user information. Various services may use the enhanced security techniques when interacting with the access manager system at various times, such as to initiate sign-on for a user and/or to take subsequent action on behalf of a signed-on user.

A technique for providing program restart functionality in a digital video network involves receiving requests from different end-user devices to restart a program and servicing the program restart requests from the different end-user devices via a single broadcast stream. In an embodiment, program restart requests that are received within an established time interval, referred to as an aggregation interval, are serviced by the same broadcast stream. Additionally, during the aggregation interval and before the program restart begins, personalized content can be provided to the end-user devices via, for example, unicasting. Once the aggregation interval is over, all of the unicast streams are switched over to the same broadcast stream and the program broadcast is restarted. In an embodiment, a switch buffer is provided just before the restarted broadcast stream in order to ensure a smooth transition from each of the multiple unicast streams to the restarted broadcast stream.

A method for synchronizing information of dual operating systems is provided. The method is used for synchronizing information of a first operating system and a second operating system when an electronic device is switching from a first operating system to a second operating system. First, the second operating system sends an information requesting message to a controller of the electronic device when the first operating system is switched to the second operating system. The controller checks if the first operating system operates in a work mode. If the first operating system operates in the work mode, the controller forwards the information requesting message to the first operating system, so as to obtain the information of the first operating system. Finally, the second system synchronizes the information recorded therein according to the obtained information.

Mechanisms are provided for providing hardware based dynamic load balancing of message passing interface (MPI) tasks by modifying tasks. Mechanisms for adjusting the balance of processing workloads of the processors executing tasks of an MPI job are provided so as to minimize wait periods for waiting for all of the processors to call a synchronization operation. Each processor has an associated hardware implemented MPI load balancing controller. The MPI load balancing controller maintains a history that provides a profile of the tasks with regard to their calls to synchronization operations. From this information, it can be determined which processors should have their processing loads lightened and which processors are able to handle additional processing loads without significantly negatively affecting the overall operation of the parallel execution system. Thus, operations may be performed to shift workloads from the slowest processor to one or more of the faster processors.
