Statistically representing point-to-point photovoltaic power estimation and area-to-point conversion of satellite pixel irradiance data are described. Accuracy on correlated overhead sky clearness is bounded by evaluating a mean and standard deviation between recorded irradiance measures and the forecast irradiance measures. Sky clearness over the two locations is related with a correlation coefficient by solving an empirically-derived exponential function of the temporal distance. Each forecast clearness index is weighted by the correlation coefficient to form an output set of forecast clearness indexes and the mean and standard deviation are proportioned. Additionally, accuracy on correlated satellite imagery is bounded by converting collective irradiance into point clearness indexes. A mean and standard deviation for the point clearness indexes is evaluated. The mean is set as an area clearness index for the bounded area. For each point, a variance of the point clearness index is determined and the mean and standard deviation are proportioned.

The present invention is directed to a ground moving target (GMTI) radar that can detect targets, including dismounts, with very small minimum detectable velocities by combining signals from antennas on different spatially separated platforms in a main beam clutter-suppressing spatially adaptive process without requiring that the relative positions of the antenna phase centers be accurately tracked. The clutter nulling is in addition to that provided by the Doppler filters. The spatial displacement provides a narrow mainbeam clutter null reducing undesired target suppression. The clutter-suppressing spatially adaptive structure is used in both the sum and delta channels of the monopulse processor so that the beam distortion caused by the spatial nulling is compensated for, and the monopulse look-up process is preserved to maintain angle accuracy. Noncoherent integration is employed to recover signal to noise loss resulting from the uncertain relative locations of the platforms.

The point clouds may include data points representative of the vehicle's environment at a given timepoint and include associated position information indicative of the vehicle's position at the timepoint. Based on the associated position information in the point clouds, the computing system may process the point clouds into a dense point cloud representation and may determine features of the representation. The computing system may provide the features to a classification system that is configured to output an estimate of whether the features are representative of a road curb. Based on the output of the classification system, the computing system may determine whether the given data points represent one or more road curbs in the vehicle's environment.

To update a database of a navigation device which stores at least a base version of a digital map, versions of the digital map which are available locally in the database or remotely from the navigation device are identified. To execute the navigation task, a version of the digital map is selected for execution of the navigation task. Data from a sub-set of storage blocks in which the selected version is stored is required to execute the navigation task. Depending on whether all storage blocks of the sub-set are already stored locally in the database, data stored in storage blocks of the sub-set which are not yet stored locally in the database are downloaded via a wireless interface. The downloaded data are stored in the database without modifying the base version of the digital map.

An object of the present invention is to provide an amplification method that inhibits amplification caused by erroneous annealing of a primer. Primers X1 and X2 are used in amplification of a target sequence including a target site showing a polymorphism. The primer X1 includes a sequence A1′ and a sequence E1. The sequence A1′ is complementary to a partial sequence A1 in a template nucleic acid, and has, in its 3′ region, a base x1′ complementary to a first base x1 at the target site in a 5′ region of the sequence A1. The sequence E1 is noncomplementary to a partial sequence B1 adjacent to the 3′ end of the partial sequence A1 in the template nucleic acid, and is bound to the 5′ end of the partial sequence A1′. The primer X2 includes a sequence A2′. The sequence A2′ is complementary to a partial sequence A2 in the template nucleic acid, and has, in its 3′ region, a base x2′ complementary to a second base x2 at the target site in a 5′ region of the partial sequence A2. Each of the primers X1 and X2 has a base complementary to the target site in its 3′ region. By these primers, when only a template in which the target site is the first base x1 is present, erroneous amplification of the target sequence having the second base x2 can be prevented. The present invention relates to a novel process for producing ceramic materials, in particular refractory materials having a reduced relative density. In particular, the invention relates to a process for producing light, refractory materials having non-contiguous pores based on shaped and unshaped materials. These materials can be used as working lining in high-temperature applications. The process is based on the production of spherical, closed and isolated pores in the microstructure of the material. The pores having a pore diameter which can be set in a targeted manner are generated by use of polymer particles, in particular polymethacrylates, in particular polymers or copolymers prepared by means of suspension polymerization, as pore formers which can be burnt out. The polymers or copolymers are present in the form of small spheres having a defined diameter. The introduction of isolated spherical pores allows the production of ceramic materials having a sometimes significantly reduced relative density and improved corrosion resistance and better mechanical strength compared to the prior art. The specific, closed pore system at the same time contributes to reducing the thermal conductivity of the ceramic materials. In addition, the novel process has the advantage that there is no risk of formation of undesirable black cores, even in the production of thick-walled ceramic products.
