During changing of a shift range (for example, from P-range to NotP-range), an SBW-ECU determines whether it is in a range-change delay condition (a switching completion time of the shift range is delayed than a normal switching completion time). When it is determined that it is in the range-change delay condition, it is determined whether a target range should be changed to a safer range (for example, P-range). As a result, when it is determined that the target range should be changed to the safer range, the target range is changed to the safer range. Thereby, even if a driver determines that the shift range cannot be changed before the switching completion of the shift range and the driver gets off the vehicle, the shift range can be changed to the safer range (P-range).

A hydrostatically set tool operates by pressure buildup on one side of a piston that builds up pressure to the same degree on the opposite side of the piston. There is a valve assembly on the opposite side of the piston that at a predetermined pressure on a high pressure side of the valve assembly allows the assembly to open to mix high pressure on the opposite side of the piston with pressure in an atmospheric or low pressure chamber. This reduces the pressure on one side of the piston and makes the piston move to set the tool. Optionally the piston can be urged to move with low pressure differential such as with sizing of the port leading into the atmospheric chamber so that piston bore warping is reduced from the low differential pressures.

This is a method to alter a two-dimensional work into a three-dimensional version of that work, and then disguise it as a common two-dimensional work. The two-dimensional work must be malleable or made malleable by adhering a malleable backing, such as sheet metal, such that it retains the new shape when bent. Foreground elements of the work's subject matter are then moved physically closer to the viewer than background elements by sculpting techniques like bending, thus making the original work now three-dimensional. The work is then enclosed in a structure like a box with a window allowing the work to be seen. The window obscures the edges of the work such that viewing the art from multiple angles doesn't easily reveal the edge of work.

The invention provides pneumatic shuttering of a focused or collimated aerosol particle stream. The aerosol stream can be collimated by an annular sheath of inert or non-inert gas. The apparatus propagates a sheathed aerosol stream through a series of aerodynamic lenses along the axis of a flow cell. The final lens is typically positioned above a substrate, so that direct material deposition is provided. A substantially perpendicularly-flowing gas external to the aerodynamic lens system is used to redirect the particle stream away from the flow axis and through an exhaust port, thereby shuttering the collimated aerosol stream. The pneumatic shutter enables printing of discreet structures, with on/off shuttering times of approximately 1 to 100 milliseconds.

A universal sensor pod provides a native sensing function during a first mode of operation and a secondary sensing function during a second mode of operation. The universal sensor pod may transition from the native sensing function to the secondary sensing function upon detecting that a sensor capable of the secondary sensing function is connected to the universal sensor pod via a smart connector. The universal sensor pod may continue one or more native sensing functions along with the secondary sensing function upon detecting that a sensor capable of the secondary sensing function is connected to the universal sensor pod via a smart connector. Some embodiments of the present inventive concept provide a system that uses two wavelengths of differential transmittance through a sample to apply laser speckle or laser Doppler imaging. A first of the two wavelengths is within the visible range that has zero or very shallow penetration. This wavelength captures the anatomical structure of tissue/organ surface and serves as a position marker of the sample but not the subsurface movement of blood flow and perfusion. A second wavelength is in the near Infra-Red (NIR) range, which has much deeper penetration. This wavelength reveals the underlying blood flow physiology and correlates both to the motion of the sample and also the movement of blood flow and perfusion. Thus, true motion of blood flow and perfusion can be derived from the NIR imaging measurement without being affected by the motion artifact of the target.
