The present invention provides liposome compositions containing sparingly soluble drugs that are used to treat life-threatening diseases. A preferred method of encapsulating a drug inside a liposome is by remote or active loading. Remote loading of a drug into liposomes containing a transmembrane electrochemical gradient is initiated by co-mixing a liposome suspension with a solution of drug, whereby the neutral form of the compound freely enters the liposome and becomes electrostatically charged thereby preventing the reverse transfer out of the liposome. There is a continuous build-up of compound within the liposome interior until the electrochemical gradient is dissipated or all the drug is encapsulated in the liposome. However, this process as described in the literature has been limited to drugs that are freely soluble in aqueous solution or solubilized as a water-soluble complex. This invention describes compositions and methods for remote loading drugs with low water solubility (<2 mg/mL). In the preferred embodiment the drug in the solubilizing agent is mixed with the liposomes in aqueous suspension so that the concentration of solubilizing agent is lowered to below its capacity to completely solubilize the drug. This results in the drug precipitating but remote loading capability is retained. The process is scalable and, in liposomes in which the lipid composition and remote loading agent are optimized, the resulting drug-loaded liposomes are characterized by a high drug-to-lipid ratios and prolonged drug retention when the liposome encapsulated drug is administered to a subject.

A convertible nephroureteral catheter is used in the treatment of urinary system complications, particularly on the need for a single surgically delivered device to treat patients who must be seen by an interventional radiologist (IR). In many current procedures, patients need to return to the operating room to remove a previously delivered nephroureteral catheter to exchange this catheter with a fully implanted ureteral stent delivered though the same access site at the flank. The present convertible nephroureteral catheter reduces the need to return for a second surgical procedure. Two weeks after initial implantation, the proximal portion of the convertible nephroureteral catheter extending out from the body may simply be removed. The present disclosure relates to determining a corrected exhaled gas measurement during high flow respiratory therapy. Measuring exhaled gas concentration during high flow respiratory therapy is difficult and inaccurate due to a phenomenon known as flushing. This can lead to incorrect clinical measurements and diagnoses. Various algorithms are disclosed herein to account for the dilution effect caused by flushing, allowing for the method of measuring gas concentrations to still be used accurately for clinical measurements.

A system and method for blood pressure signal acquisition using a pressure sensor array. A solution is provided for a non-inflatable, non-invasive, continuous blood pressure waveform and blood pressure acquisition system. The system is operative to combine signals from various sensing elements where the less accurate sensor elements are calibrated utilizing the more accurate sensor elements. Blood pressure measurements are acquired using very sensitive pressure sensors that detect slight pressure changes through the skin, which are sampled and processed to yield a blood pressure signal, which is processed to yield actual systolic and diastolic continuous and or intermittent blood pressure readings. By sampling and detecting the signal in each of the sensors, the sensor that is best placed on the target artery is found and the signals from that sensor is used to weight the signals from other sensors based on signal quality. The sensor array is placed approximately on the target artery making it highly likely that more than one element will acquire signal from the artery. Combining a plurality of such correlated signals with uncorrelated noise yields a signal to noise enhancement and more accurate blood pressure readings.

Conventional intra-prediction uses pixels from left and upper neighbour blocks to predict a macroblock (MB). Thus, the MBs must be sequentially processed, since reconstructed left and upper MBs must be available for prediction. In an improved method for encoding Intra predicted MBs, a MB is encoded in two steps: first, a first portion of the MB is encoded independently, without references outside the MB. Pixels of the first portion can be Intra predicted using DC mode. Then, the first portion is reconstructed. The remaining pixels of the MB, being a second portion, are intra predicted from the reconstructed pixels of the first portion and then reconstructed. The first portion comprises at least one column or one row of pixels of the MB. The encoding is applied to at least two Intra predicted MBs per slice, or per picture if no slices are used.

A video decoding method performed by a decoding device includes: deriving control points (CPs) for a current block; acquiring motion vectors for the CPs; deriving a sample-unit motion vector in the current block based on the acquired motion vectors; deriving a prediction sample for the current block based on the sample-unit motion vector; and generating a restoration sample based on the prediction sample, wherein coordinates of a bottom-right sample position of the current block are (0, 0), and coordinates of CPO among the CPs are (0, 0). Inter prediction is effectively performed through sample-unit motion vectors even when an image in a current block is planarly moved and variously changed, and since motion vectors for CPs are derived based on already-decoded neighboring blocks, an amount of information for the motion vectors for the CPs and for a residual signal for the current block is reduced, improving overall coding efficiency.

Systems, devices, and techniques for providing content via a bandwidth-conserved connection to a client device is described herein. Content can be encoded at reduced rate in response to being presented with a bandwidth-conserved connection. When the encoded content is received at a network provider, the network provider can determine a transmission pattern to transmit the encoded content to the client device. The transmission pattern can include transmission periods where the encoded content is transmitted at a maximum transmission rate, followed by periods where no encoded content is transmitted. Thus, although an instantaneous transmission rate approaches a maximum transmission rate of a network, the average transmission bandwidth provided to the client device can be limited, thereby reducing congestion in the network. Further, a radio element of the client device can enter a low power state when no encoded content is to be transmitted, thereby reducing power consumption at the client device.
