Disclosed is an air battery system whereby the generation of hydrogen can be prevented. Specifically disclosed is an air battery system comprising: a battery cell which comprises an air electrode, a negative electrode containing an active material capable of releasing a lithium ion, and a solid electrolyte layer and an aqueous electrolytic solution layer both arranged between the air electrode and the negative electrode and having a lithium ion conductivity; a detection means which can detect the voltage between the negative electrode and the air electrode; and a signal means which provides a signal when the voltage detected by the detection means becomes 2.2 V or lower.
