A switch with a horizontally movable switch unit, especially for floating vehicles, which are supported by a track by means of magnetic or pneumatic forces, in which the switch unit is composed of a plurality of individual switch sections arranged one behind the other when looking in the direction in which a vehicle passes over the switch. The switch sections respectively carry track sections which in the end positions of the switch for a straight drive or a drive through a curve from a practically continuous track. The individual track sections respectively having associated therewith actuating means for moving the same selectively to the position corresponding to the desired effective position of the switch.
