The invention relates to a photostable cosmetic composition for protection against UV rays with wavelengths between 280 and 400 nm, which contains, in a cosmetically acceptable aqueous or aqueous/alcoholic medium, trihydroxyethylrutin in combination with water-soluble sun-screens derived from benzylidenecamphor which are described in French Pat. Nos. 2,199,971, 2,236,515 and 2,282,426, and more particularly, 4-(2-oxo-3-bornylidenemethyl)phenyltrimethylammonium methylsulphate and 4-(2-oxo-3-bornylidenemethyl)benzenesulphonic acid and its metal or ammonium salts.Application as a sunscreen composition for the skin, a protective composition for the hair or as a light-stabilized cosmetic composition.
