Pyrazole-3-carboxamides of the general formula I ##STR1## where the substituents have the following meaning: R.sup.1 hydrogen;substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl or C.sub.1 C.sub.6 -alkyl;R.sup.2 hydroxy; amino; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino; di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino, aminocarbonyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl; substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -alkynyl, phenyl or naphthyl,a substituted or unsubstituted 5- to 6-membered heterocyclic ring;one of the groups mentioned for R.sup.1 orR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together denote a 4- to 7-membered chain which may contain, in addition to methylene groups one of the following groups as ring member: oxygen, sulfur N-methyl or carbonyl;R.sup.3 a substituted or unsubstituted 5- to 6-membered heterocyclic ring.substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 alkynyl, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthyl or phenyl orone of the groups mentioned for R.sup.1 ;R.sup.4 nitro; cyano; carboxyl; halogen; substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, orone of the groups mentioned for R.sup.3 ;R.sup.5 4,5-dihydroxazol-2-yl or a group COYR.sup.6 ;Y hydrogen;R.sup.6 C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -alkynyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkenyl or phenyl,a substituted or unsubstituted 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; phthalimido; tetrahydrophthalimido; succinimido; maleiimido; benzotriazolyl ora group --N.dbd.CR.sup.7 R.sup.8, whereR.sup.7 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl andR.sup.8 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -cycloalkyl, phenyl, furyl or a radical R.sup.7 orR.sup.7, R.sup.8 together denote a 4- to 7-membered alkylene chain,and their agriculturally useful salts, Y not denoting oxygen and R.sup.1 not denoting hydrogen when R.sup.3 is hydrogen and R.sup.4 is nitro, trifluoromethyl, halogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy and --YR.sup.6 not denoting ethoxy when R.sup.1 is hydrogen, R.sup.4 is methyl and R.sup.2 is phenyl or substituted phenyl.
