A joining part joining the armature and the valve closure element is configured as a punched and bent part, and has over the majority of its axial extension an open profile differing from a circular cross section. The valve needle thus possesses a mass which is lower as compared with conventional valve needles of identical overall size. The valve is particularly suitable for use in a fuel injection system of a mixture-compressing, spark-ignited internal combustion engine.
