    摘要: A biopsy site marker comprises small bodies or pellets (20) of gelatin which enclose substantially in their interior a radio (X-ray) opaque object. The gelatin pellets are deposited into the biopsy site, typically a cylindrical opening in the tissue created by the recent use of a vacuum assisted large core biopsy device, by an applicator device that includes an elongated cylindrical body that forms a flexible tube (26) and a piston (28) slidable in the tube. One end of the tube is placed into the biopsy site. Typically, several gelatin pellets, only some of which typically do, but all of which may contain the radio opaque object, are deposited sequentially into the site through the tube. The radio opaque objects contained in the gelatin bodies are of a non-biological configuration and readily identifiable as man-made object, so that in observation by typical mammography equipment they do not assume the shape of a line, whereby they are readily distinguishable from granules and lines of calcification.

For example, the vacuum arc vapor deposition apparatus includes a shield member moved to and away from a position between a vapor source and a holder for supporting the deposition target object, a drive device for locating the shield plate selectively in a shield position between the vapor source and the holder, and a retracted position shifted from the shield position, a detector (e.g., current detector) detecting turn-on/off of the vacuum arc discharge, and a control portion controlling the drive device to locate the shield plate in the shield position when the detector detects turn-off of the vacuum arc discharge, and to locate the shield plate in the retracted position when a time required for stabilizing the vacuum arc discharge elapses after the detector detected turn-on of the vacuum arc discharge.

    摘要: A novel general-purpose method of precisely and easily determining the absolute configuration of a chiral compound which can have various kinds of basic groups bonded. The method uses a metal porphyrin having a structure which comprises a porphyrin dimer crosslinked with a carbon chain and in which one of the two porphyrin rings has a substituent bulkier than an ethyl group and bonded to at least one of the second peripheral carbon atoms from the carbon atom at the crosslink with the carbon chain. In this method, either a chiral compound having an asymmetric carbon atom having, bonded thereto, a basic group capable of coordinating to the metal of the other porphyrin ring of the dimer structure of the metal porphyrin or a chiral compound having an asymmetric carbon atom adjacent to a carbon atom having the basic group bonded thereto is coordinated to the metal porphyrin. The resultant coordination compound is analyzed by spectrophotometry based on circular dichroism to determine the absolute configuration of the chiral compound based on the symbol of a Cotton effect.
