摘要: The invention relates to the technical field of local data transmission networks, in particular domestic networks. In networks such as these, the network stations log on in connection to the network. On disconnection, the network station which is leaving the network logs off in an appropriate manner. In the situation in which the user disconnects a network station simply by pulling out the network cable from the network, it is physically impossible to transmit the logging-off message. The invention is now concerned with the problem of how reliably an inactive network station can be identified, also taking account of the disconnection of the network station simply by pulling out the network plug. The invention solves the problem by regular transmission of a search request to the stations in the network. If a search request remains unanswered by one network station (53) , an HTTP access (54) is additionally attempted to, for example, the device description of the network station in question, or a control request. The network station is identified as being inactive (56) only if this access/control request also fails. In the case of a UPnP network, the search request is made using the unprotected SSDP protocol, so that the lack of any response to the search request does not in its own right reliably indicate that the network station has logged off . The supposition that the network station which did not respond to the search request is inactive is confirmed by means of the HTTP access, which takes place on an error-protected basis.

摘要: The invention relates to the field of data transmission in a network of distributed stations (12 to 16). One problem, particularly in a UPnP based network, is that the UPnP devices need to be constantly switched on in order to be available in the network. The invention intervenes at this point and describes ways in which unused network stations can be switched off but continue to be identified as devices in the network. If a device which is switched off is needed, it is automatically switched on. This allows a considerable power saving to be achieved in the network. The invention provides for a network connection switching unit (10) to contain 'communication maintenance means' (22 to 26) which maintain the communication for an inactivated network station (15) at least to a restricted extent instead of the inactivated network station (15) . A network station (15) matched thereto is also proposed.

摘要: The invention relates to the technical field of data communication in a network of distributed stations, particularly in a home network. A home network of this type allows AV data streams to be transmitted between network subscriber stations. The aim of the invention is to assist the user of a network of this type when he wishes to start a recording procedure for the audio and/or video data. In line with the invention, a data connection is automatically set up between that data source appliance (11, 16) which has already set up a connection to a data sink appliance (10, 18) or to a user interface appliance (10) and the recording appliance (12, 17). The automatic set-up of a data connection takes place directly after the user interface for the recording appliance (12, 17) has been called up. Alternatively, the automatic set-up of a data connection may take place only specifically after selection of the recording function on the recording appliance (12, 17). The measure assists the implementation of an instant-recording function on the recording appliance (12, 17) in the network.

摘要: An apparatus (20) and method (10) for rendering a tree structure in a GUI depending on a position of a pointing cursor relative to the rendered tree use the cursor position with respect to the tree to control which tree branches to expand/collapse automatically. They reconfigure the tree view for compact presentation without need for explicit expand/collapse operations. A tree view is generated (11). A cursor position relative to the view is determined (14), consisting of first and second position values according to first and second directions. The branch the cursor position is aligned with according to the first direction is automatically selected as active branch (15). Sub-levels of that branch to be expanded are determined (16), depending on the second position value relative to indentations of the sub-levels, and the tree view is automatically updated by expanding the determined sub-levels of the active branch and collapsing other branches (17).

摘要: The invention relates to the technical field of home networks. A home network based on the present UPnP standard (Universal Plug and Play) allows data to be interchanged between network subscriber stations. A UPnP standard may have one or more control point devices (11, 12) . To allow profile information such as user profile or network profile to be interchanged, the invention proposes providing a control point device (11, 12) firstly with an expanded device ascertainment service (21) which can be used to find the other control point devices (11, 12) in the network and also with one or more additionally implemented profile services which allow the other control point devices in the network to be notified about change to profile information on a control point device (11, 12) .

摘要: The invention relates to the technical field of data transmission in a network of distributed stations (11 to 14) . One problem particularly with a UPnP-based home network is that although the network-internal communication is based on the IP protocol, the allocated IP addresses are valid only locally and they therefore cannot be accessed via the Internet . This is the starting point of the invention, which proposes that remote access to the network have the network's switching node (10) provide address conversion which is effected using an internally managed table about the devices which are present in the network and their IP addresses. For the remote access, the globally valid IP address of the switching node (10) is used, with an additional information item being additionally provided in the HTTP Get remote access and allowing the address conversion. A suitable additional information item is the converted local IP address of the network station which is to be addressed, in particular. The response to the remote access involves the inverse address conversion, so that the references back to the local area network again contain the globally valid address of the switching node (10) plus the additional information item.
