摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide a cutting machine capable of sharpening in such a manner that an angle of a cutting edge can be kept constant. A support block 14 is provided with two arms 14a, 14b which are spaced at a certain angle, and the arms 14a, 14b have rotation shafts 12a, 13a of rotary whetstones 12, 13, respectively, extending upright from the vicinities of the front ends thereof. The rotary whetstones 12, 13 has, at front ends thereof, flat surfaces perpendicular to the rotation shafts 12a, 13a to sharpen the one side 11b and the other side 11c of the cutting edge 11a of the cutting blade 11, respectively. The whetstone holding mechanism 15 can be moved in parallel linearly or can swing almost linearly, as mainly indicated by the arrow 15a, to bring the flat surface 12b of the rotary whetstone 12 into contact with the one side 11b of the cutting blade 11, as depicted by a broken line, thereby allowing the switch to the sharpening state. Even when the sharpening progresses, since parallelism between the flat abrasive surface 12b and the one side 11b of the cutting blade and between the flat abrasive surface 13b and the other side 11c of the cutting blade is kept, the angle of the cutting edge is kept constant.

摘要: A vibration damping device that damps vibration produced during the conversion of rotational motion into reciprocal motion. The damping is performed using a simple structure, and the device can be easily downsized. A first converting mechanism (10) and a second converting mechanism are symmetrically arranged with an imaginary plane (9a) as a plane of symmetry, a first rotating shaft (11) and a second rotating shaft (21) rotate opposite to each other at a constant speed, and the rotational motion is converted into reciprocal motion by a first crank rod (13) and a second crank rod (23). As a result, forces in a horizontal direction balance. The total of mass acting on gravity centers (14g, 24g) of a first balancer (14) and a second balancer (24) is approximately equal to the total of mass reciprocally driven by a first driving shaft (15) and a second driving shaft (25) . Further, both gravity centers (14g, 24g) are positioned so as to be opposed at 180 degrees to the first driving shaft (15) and second driving shaft (25) across the axes of the first rotating shaft (11) and second rotating shaft (21). As a consequence, the forces in the direction of an axis (32a) can be balanced. Because the forces are balanced, vibration generation is suppressed.

摘要: A method for making fabric pattern pieces (62) for assembly into garments, upholstery or the like, with the fabric of each pattern piece having a fabric design with design features arranged in a predetermined manner with respect to the lines defining the boundary (66) of the piece. The fabric design, which is printed on the fabric web by a computer-controlled dye-jet process, is printed only within the outlines of the desired pattern pieces. This avoids the problems previously associated with alignment of the pattern pieces relative to a repeating fabric design preprinted over the entire surface of the fabric web used as the work material and allows a more compact nesting of the pattern pieces on the web. An electronic pattern piece database (10) is generated, including a template each of the desired pattern pieces. A graphical image (64) representative of the desired fabric print design is also generated and combined with the pattern piece templates, care being taken to adjust the fabric print design in each individual pattern piece such that the match criteria are satisfied and the design appears as desired in the corresponding finished fabric piece. The patterned templates are then arranged in nested relation to produce a cutting and printing marker (30). This marker is utilized to control the printer which prints the desired pattern pieces on a sheet of plain unprinted fabric. The pattern pieces, printed with the appropriately aligned fabric design, are then cut from the fabric web.

摘要: An apparatus and method for cutting pieces of material from a workpiece (18), such as a web of patterned fabric, which includes irregularities or which is misaligned with respect to a coordinate system of the cutting apparatus. The workpiece is spread on a cutting table (12, 102) where it is cut by a numerically controlled cutter (24, 28, 30) in accord with an electronic marker stored in the cutter controller. The marker is matched to the workpiece and appropriate adjustments are made to the marker before the workpiece is cut. A laser (42), operatively connected to the controller, projects a match target (61) onto the workpiece at a point corresponding to a selected point on the marker. The marker is then adjusted such that the selected point coincides with a desired location on the workpiece. Adjustment is achieved by electronically displacing the match target from a non preferred location to a preferred one. Software in the controller translates this displacement into appropriate adjustments to the marker. The displacement is effected with an electro-magnetic pointing device (46) which coacts with a digitizing grid (44) embedded in the cutting table work surface and operatively connected to the controller.

摘要: A part identification system (10) for non-intrusively identifying a subset of parts cut from a sheet material (20). The part identification system (10) includes a visual signal generator (40) for projecting an identifying image associated with a given subset of cut parts. A labelling program (80) accesses a database (260), generates a control signal including the part location and identifying image and sends the signal to a controller (60). The controller (60) directs the identifying image from the visual signal generator (40) to identify the cut parts.

摘要: In a method and apparatus (10) for cutting sheet material (22) wherein the material is cut in bites or segments (58) by bringing in stepwise fashion successive lengthwise segments (72, 74, 76) to a cutting station (26) incomplete cutting of a line (62) or pattern piece (58) when the line (62) or pattern piece (58) is continued from one segment (72, 74, 76) to another is avoided by a retracing of the line (62) of cut in the vicinity of the line's or pattern piece's transition from one segment to another. Therefore, when the cutting tool (32), following the advancement of the material (22) to bring a fresh segment to the cutting station (26), is returned to the vicinity of a previously cut point it retraces a portion of the previously cut line (62) to promote complete separation of the desired material from the waste material (60) despite possible relaxation or other shifting or mispositioning of the material (22) between the times of the cutting tool's first and second arrivals at the transition point.
