摘要: The present invention provides an aqueous composition and process for electrodepositing a layer of a ductile, strongly adhering, adsorptive and/or absorptive zinc coating or zinc coating comprising silicon and phosphorous on a metal substrate. The electrodeposition composition is prepared by reacting metallic silicon and zinc with phosphoric acid and an alkali metal hydroxide in the ratio of between 0,4 and 1,3 moles of alkali metal hydroxide per mole of phosphorus acid, and adjusting the solution to a pH of 1 or higher after completion of the reaction. The coating is deposited on the metal substrate by electrodeposition and comprises about 70 to 99,5% by weight of zinc, and about 0,1 to 10% by weight of silicon, and about 0,5 to 20% by weight of phosphorus. The resulting Zn/Si/P coating improves the resistance of the metal substrate to corrosion, wear, galling, stress corrosion cracking and cracking during mechanical forming operations. While essentially all metals of industrial importance may be coated, this process is especially important for ferrous metals, steels, stainless steels, copper, aluminium, chromium and titanium.

摘要: A coating comprising aluminum and at least one of the transition metals of the groups IVB, VB and VIB are prepared comprising a unique microstructure which may be a solid solution of the transition metal in an aluminide matrix or a pseudo solid solution of the transition metal in an aluminum matrix. By means of special processes a super fine distribution of the transition metal within the matrix may be obtained in the form of a metastable pseudo solid solution even though thermodynamic considerations disfavour such fine distributions. The coating may, with advantage, be applied to superalloys and be heat treated together with the substrate in order to form a stable aluminide coating comprising transition metal dispersions in an aluminide matrix. One of the preferred manufacturing processes of such coatings is the electrodeposition thereof from non-aqueous electrolytes.

摘要: A tin and/or lead electroplating bath is free from fluoride or fluoborate ions and comprises
    (A) a bath-soluble metal salt which is a stannous salt, a lead salt, or a mixture of stannous and lead salts; (B) an alkane sulphonic acid or alkanol sulphonic acid; (C) a nonionic, cationic or amphoteric surfactant; (D) a primary brightening agent which is an aromatic aldehyde, an acetophenone or a carbonyl compound of the formula:
in which Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, naphthyl, pyridyl, thiophenyl or furyl group; and (E) a secondary brightening agent which is a lower aliphatic aldehyde or a substituted olefin of the formula:
in which R, is a carboxy, carboxamide, alkali metal car boxylate, ammonium carboxylate, amine carboxylate or allyl carboxylate group; and R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are each independently hydrogen or lower alkyl groups.
