摘要: A laminated structure utilizes differential adhesive (36) to achieve high adhesion to a wicking material and low adhesion where removal is desired. The low profile wicking pad (32) is useful in any technology where it is desirable to control excess moisture with a passive device. The wicking device is particularly useful in the field of continuous ink jet printing systems, where the low profile of the device is desirable and the cost reduction makes disposability of the device a reality. In ink jet printing systems, the wicking device improves ink jet printhead performance via ink mist and ink drip elimination.

摘要: Metallic bumps (22) are formed for electrical interconnection between the charge plate (10) and the charge drive electronics. This is achieved by having improved electrical connection between an ink jet charge plate (10) and associated charge leads is promoted. This is achieved by integrating the termination pads (22), electrical transmission lines, and charging leads. The termination bumps (22) are formed as integral parts of the charge leads and are connected directly to the charge driver board electronics by pressure contact. The bumps (22) can be formed by mechanically indenting the termination pads (30) or by using an interposer that has raised metallic pads aligned to the integral nickel pads and the charge driver circuitry board. First, a mask is aligned to permit additive formation of the pads, conductors, and charge leads. Then the nickel circuitry (26) thus formed is made into a rigid charge plate and an integrated flexible section (18) having contact bumps (22). After bonding the rigid and flexible substrates to the electroformed circuitry the copper substrate (28) is completely removed by selective etching, thus exposing the mechanically deformed bumps (22) on the lead terminations, one for each charge lead. The bump thus formed is used to provide a high pressure point electrical connection to the charge plate.

摘要: A system and method are provided for linearizing the tone scale of individual colors in a multi-color printing system, by deriving a prescribed tone scale of individual colors in a single or multi-color printing system. Full linear ink gradations are printed on multiple substrates, and a linearization table is generated with multiple points for each of the multiple substrates and/or ink gradations. A polynomial curve is fitted to the points of each linearization table to generate polynomial curves. At least one point in the polynomial curves is selected, that shows high variation from one curve to a next curve, and coefficients of a group of polynomial curves are plotted as functions of the value of the at least one point. The range of prediction can be as narrow or as broad as an application requires. Finally, a prescribed tone scale table is derived from the polynomial curves and the at least one point. A measured set of values can be compared against a predefined database, and the most applicable transformation is then selected. The data can be corrected to any suitable curve shape.

摘要: A differential circuit (26) is used to compare the current to the drive transducers to a matched reference circuit (18). With the capacitive current from the piezoelectric transducer (14) canceled out in this manner, the resulting output current (44) provides a direct measure of the vibration amplitude of the drop generator. By adding an appropriate inductor (48) in parallel to the capacitive piezoelectric drive transducers, the loading of the drive electronics, or oscillator, is significantly reduced.

摘要: The present invention proposes a printing system whereby a supply of sufficient data is assured to the print engine so that the print engine can run continuously and efficiently. The printing system has at least one marking engine capable of printing an image on a media as a transport moves the media past the marking engine. Buffers or sets of buffers hold completely raster image processed pages and interface logic transfers the buffered pages to the marking engine to transfer the image to the media. Buffer management logic controls the buffers so that as the printing system accumulates slack time left over from raster image processing non-complex pages, the slack time is allocated to complex pages to optimize average raster image processing time with speed of the print engine.

摘要: The present invention addresses problems encountered in the conversion of continuous tone data into binary data for printing on low resolution imaging systems. Representation of the continuous tone data is only roughly approximated through the conversion to binary data. Artifacts of the binary printing process are objectionable for several reasons. They decrease over all image quality and may sometimes allow for only partial representation of the original data. Partially formed and/or irregularly formed text characters are one such example. This invention addresses this problem by forcing certain levels to be processed through predictable dot dispersion patterns so as to preserve pre-identified portions of the input data stream. Continuous tone image data for imaging on a digital output device is processed by identifying at least one problematic tone level in the binary representation of the image, and identifying at least one non-problematic tone level in the binary representation of the image. Data transformation is then applied to cause the digital output device to replace the at least one problematic tone level in the binary representation of the image with output at the at least one non-problematic tone level in the binary representation of the image.
