The invention relates to a ceramic hob (10) comprising a glass ceramic or glass hot plate (12), an electrical heat-conductive layer (20) and a thermally injected insulating layer (16) between the hot plate (12) and the heat-conductive layer (20). A primer layer (14) that may consist for example of Al2O3, is first applied to the underside of the hot plate (12) by thermal injection and then the thermally injected insulating layer (16) from ceramics, preferably cordierite or mullite is applied. A heat-conductive layer (18) that consists for example of a meandering heat-conductive (20) is applied to the underside of the thermally injected insulating layer (16) preferably by thermal injection. A laminar structure of that kind allows for high thermal stress resistance and good long-term stability of the ceramic hob (10).

Decors, characters and symbols are largely applied on glass, glass ceramics and ceramics products in order to achieve desired aesthetic appearances. According to prior art, this is achieved either by directly applying the products using screen-printing techniques or by indirectly applying a decal which was previously provided with the decors or characters and symbols by screen printing or by electrophotographic copying methods. This can also be achieved directly by electrophotographic copying methods whereby the electrophotographically produced toner image is transferred to the products by pressure/heat or by using an electrostatic field generated by coronae (9, 10). Instead of an endless loop which is used in prior art, the invention provides a dimensionally stable transfer roll for the distortion-free electrostatic transfer of the electrostatic image pattern and a special arrangement of the coronae (9, 10) for an improved electrostatic transfer.

In order to make thermally prestressed screens more fracture-proof vis-à-vis a dynamic load, a defined distribution of the compressive surface stresses applied by thermal prestressing is necessary. Also the glass density should be as low and uniform as possible in order to avoid any disturbing influences on the brightness of the images to be represented. Known manufacturing processes are time-and cost-intensive and cannot meet all requirements. According to the invention, first of all a multi-part heat-optimized pressing tool is used in which heat dissipation is increased in those areas in which an increased compressive surface stress is to be established. The screen is then reheated and evenly soaked and is quickly cooled to a lower temperature for the purpose of fine annealing. The distribution of stresses is adjusted in a precise manner so that the glass density does not substantially change (compaction) during the thermal post-treatment.

The invention relates to a method and a device for refining a glass melt, using negative-pressure apparatus. According to the invention, the glass melt is fed to a refining bench by means of an uptake pipe and is discharged from the refining bench by means of a downpipe, a negative pressure being created over the flow of glass in the refining bench. The invention is characterised in that the uptake pipe and/or the downpipe and/or the refining bench has/have at least one component consisting of at least one refractory metal and/or of a refractory metal alloy as the glass contact material.

In order to cut out a given contour using simple mean, (free-shape cut) the method according to the invention relates to a line-shaped burn spot (1) generated on a work piece. Said spot is of significantly increased intensity at both ends (1a, 1b). Said spot is moved along the cut line (2) in such a way that both said ends lie on the cut line (2) and the length (S) thereof depends on the curvature of the contour of the cut line (2).
