The invention concerns a method for working or forming metals which consists in using an aqueous lubricant containing as water-soluble extreme pressure additive, methanesulphonic acid or a water-soluble methanesulphonic acid salt. The water-soluble methanesulphonic acid salt is an alkali or alkaline-earth, ammonium, alkanolamine or ethoxylated fatty amine salt. The inventive aqueous lubricants have good extreme pressure properties and good properties with respect to corrosion.

The present invention relates to a finished resin composition containing (a) an unsaturated polyester, b) a polymerizable monomer, (c) a promoter system, and (d) a composite stabilizer; wherein the composite stabilizer is a hydroxylamine oxide and aromatic antioxidant and, optionally, a hydroxylamine and is present at 0.001-0.5 parts per 100 parts of the finished UPE resin. The stabilizing system improves processing stability by preventing gel-particle formation, improved storage stability of the curing compositions by inhibiting formation of overhead popcorn and suppressing drifts of resin viscosity and gel time.

Disclosed is a polished translucent co-extruded sheet having utility as a light diffusing protective cover or sign face for light emitting diode (LED) light sources and other purposes. The sheet is comprised of (a) a particle layer containing particles having a mean particle size of about 4 to 100 microns and having a particle size distribution of between 1-110 microns, at a loading of 1 to 60% melt blended with a thermoplastic matrix, wherein the particle and matrix have refractive indices that differ by greater than 0.001 units of each other when measured in conformance with ASTM D 542; and (b) at least one substrate layer comprised of thermoplastic compositions, wherein the substrates have a refractive index within 0.2 units of the refractive index of the particle layer matrix when measured in conformance with ASTM D 542.

Disclosed is an improved weatherable thermoplastic composition. The composition is comprised of a copolymer of an alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate and poly(methyl)methacrylate and a multi-stage, sequentially-polymerized impact modifier polymer. The copolymer is characterized by greater than 15 weight percent alkyl acrylate content. The multi-stage, sequentially-polymerized impact modifier is characterized by an elastomer stage, which is 55 percent by weight or greater of the impact modifier composition and is minimally crosslinked. The thermoplastic composition can be used in a wide range of film, sheet, or molded applications.

The invention is useful for making antimicrobial cast or extruded plates, in particular for use in the field of sanitary ware.
