A method for producing a mercaptophenol compound in which a phenyl carbamate compound is produced using a phenol compound as a raw material, and then a sulfur atom is regioselectively introduced by a reaction with sulfur monochloride, and a phenyl mercaptocarbamate compound is produced as an intermediate.

The present invention relates to a method for preparing methyl mercaptan, in batches or continuously, preferably continuously, said method including at least the following steps: a) reacting at least one hydrocarbon feedstock in the presence of hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S) and optionally sulphur (S) such as to form carbon disulphide (CS 2 ) and hydrogen (H 2 ); b) reacting said carbon disulphide (CS 2 ) by hydrogenation in the presence of said hydrogen (H2) obtained in step a) such as to form methyl mercaptan (CH 3 SH), hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S) and possibly hydrogen (H 2 ); c) optionally recirculating said hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S) formed during step b) to step a); and d) recovering the methyl mercaptan.

The invention concerns a novel method for industrial preparation of disodium 2,2'-dithiobis(alkylsulphonates), and in particular disodium 2,2'-dithiobis(ethanesulphate) (dimesna). Said novel method is summarised by the reaction diagram (A). In diagram (A), Hal represents a halogen atom, and preferably a bromine atom; M represents a sodium or potassium atom; and n represents an integer ranging between 0 and 2.
