Abstract:
A bearing includes a first member having a passageway configured to engage a shaft, the first member having a metallic material; and a second member disposed around at least a portion of the first member, the second member having a metallic material and at least one radially and inwardly bent portion capable of restricting axial movement of the first member. The first and second members are movable relative to each other.
Abstract:
An environmentally-improved motor oil blend and related methods for properly lubricating components of an engine and favorably modifying a plastic response of components of the engine, the blend being free of zinc di-alkyl-di-thiophosphates (ZDDP) and free of zinc di-thiophosphate (ZDTP), comprising: a motor oil selected from the motor oil group consisting of Group I, Group II, Group III, Group IV, and Group V motor oils; a motor oil additive comprising alpha-olefins and hydroisomerized hydro-treated severe hydrocracked base oil; ZDDP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil; and ZDTP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil.
Abstract:
A refractory formulation containing an anhydrous solvent, an oleophilic rheology modifier and a refractory aggregate exhibits non-thermoplastic behavior, and remains plastic and formable at temperatures in the range of 10 degrees Celsius to 180 degrees Celsius. The oleophilic rheology modifier may effectively bind with the solvent to create a gel-like structure with organic solvents with moderate to high polarity. A phyllosilicate clay that has been treated with a quaternary fatty acid amine may be used as the oleophilic rheology modifier.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein are low and medium sulfur, phosphorus, and sulfated ash (low and medium "SAPS") lubricating oil compositions for providing enhanced piston cleanliness in an internal combustion engine. The lubricating oil compositions comprise at least one Mannich reaction product prepared by the condensation of a poly isobutylsubstituted hydroxyaromatic compound, wherein the polyisobutyl group is derived from polyisobutene containing at least 70 wt. % methylvinylidene isomer and has a number average molecular weight of from 400 to 2,500, an aldehyde, an amino acid or ester derivative thereof, and an alkali metal base.
Abstract:
Lubricating oils useful as gear oils, circulating oils, compressor oils and in other applications characterized by and excellent balance of anti-wear and anti-rust characteristics are based on high quality base stocks including a major portion of a hydrocarbon base fluid such as a PAO with a secondary base stock component which is preferably a long chain alkylated aromatic, such as an alkylnaphthalene. A synergistic combination of additives comprising an adduct of a substituted triazole such as benzotriazole or a substituted benzotriazole, e.g. tolyltriazole (TTZ) with an amine phosphate and a trihydrocarbyl phosphate such as cresyl diphenylphosphate (CDP), confers the desired balance of anti-wear and anti-rust properties. In addition, the present oils typically include an anti-oxidant component and a rust inhibitor together with other optional additive components.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a lubricating oil composition, comprising: (A) a base oil; and a phosphorus-containing compound represented by the formulaewherein in Formulae (B-I) and (B-II), R , R and R are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl groups, and a, b and c are independently zero or 1; the lubricating oil composition being characterized by a sulfur content of about 0.01 to about 0.25% by weight.
Abstract:
A lubricant comprises oleophilic thickening fibers dispersed in an oil and/or lubricating fluid. The oleophilic thickening fibers have a diameter between 50 nm and 10 microns and a length that is at least 5 times the diameter.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an improved food-grade-lubricant useful as hydraulic oil, circulating oil, drip oil, general purpose oil, grease base oil, cable oil, chain oil, spindle oil, gear oil, and compressor oil for equipment in the food service industry. Specifically, it relates to a composition comprising at least one polyalphaolefin base fluid, at least one food grade polyolester base fluid, and at least one food grade performance additive.
