摘要： The user interface provides access to a range of information and systems via a remote controller and TV screen. A controller has access to programme guide information from a number of sources. This includes data from high definition television, Internet sources and DVD units. Icons are provided to allow access to TV sources, Email, telephone and fax. The programme guide data from different sources is associated with an icon (905-950) and is colour coded. Selecting an icon displays programmes related to that icon e.g. cable. A colour bar (900) allows selections by colour where different types of programme, e.g. comedy, are associated by colour.

摘要： A television system is provided with a storage means for a forced accumulation, the advertisement information is selectively received and accumulated therein. According to the present invention, a storagemeans 2 of a TV system 1 is accumulated with the advertisement information in addition to a variety of TV programs. The storage means is structured of an area that can be exclusively used and an area usable as a user intends. Mainly, the advertisement information provided free of charge by an entrepreneur and the life information necessary for a person to use for a life are selectively received and accumulated in the former area. A content of the advertisement information is properly automatically rewritten and can be viewed for 24 hours a day throughout the year, and hence the viewer can utilize the updated advertisement information free of charge at all times. An HDD of the storage means can be utilized for a receiving box spot of the E-commerce and for accumulating news items of the E-newspaper. A cost for providing the advertisement information is approximately 1/10 a cost for the conventional direct mails and about 1/8 a cost for the inserts.

摘要： The invention provides a method and apparatus for coding information (fig. 5) that is specially adapted for smaller presentation formats, such as in a hand held video player (fig. 1). The invention addresses, inter alia, reducing the complexity of video decoding (55), implementation of an MP3 decoder (56) using fixed point arithmetic, fast YcbCr to RGB conversion, encapsulation of a video stream and an MP3 audio stream into an AVI file, storing menu navigation and DVD subpicture information on a memory card, synchronization of audio and video streams, encryption of keys that are used for decryption of multimedia data (fig. 3), and very user interface (UI) adaptations for a hand held video player that implements the improved coding invention herein disclosed.
