    摘要: A User Equipment, UE, (101) of a cellular communication system (100) transmits scheduling assistance data to a base station (105) comprising a base station scheduler (209) which schedules packet data. The scheduling assistance data relates to packet data communication of the UE (101). The scheduling assistance data is generated by a scheduling assistance data generator (223) coupled to a packet data transmit buffer (221) associated with the packet data transmission. A first transport channel controller (217) allocates other data to a first transport channel and a retransmission controller (219) operates a retransmission scheme for this transport channel. A second transport channel controller (225) allocates the scheduling assistance data to a signalling transport channel and a transport channel multiplexer (227) combines the two transport channels as multiplexed channels on a single physical resource. The transmission reliabilities for the retransmission and non-retransmission transport channels may be individually optimised.

A resource determination processor (119) dynamically determines a resource requirement parameter for at least one of the cell sectors (107-111). The resource determination processor (119) is coupled to a resource assignment processor (121) which dynamically assigns a resource availability of the shared communication link (105) to each of the resource allocators (113, 115, 117) in response to the resource requirement parameter. The resource allocators (113, 115, 117) then schedule data for communication over the shared communication link in response to the resource availability. The invention provides improved utilisation of a shared communication link (105) while allowing independent scheduling by resource allocators associated with a single cell.
