    摘要: Techniques to optimize video-call communications are disclosed. The link quality capability of a wireless video-call session and the requirements of the video-call session are determined. The link quality capability determination is based at least on measurements through the entire communications chain, including user, client device, operating system, application, air interface, cell sector, and backhaul parameters. Those parameters may be determined from static profiles, dynamically determined or be statistically derived. Client device response may include adapting the rate of data captured by a video camera, microphone, or other data capture device used in the video-call session. For video-conferencing scenarios, communications throughput is optimized by consolidating video streams.

    摘要: Techniques for calculating quality of user experience (QoE) scores for video streams as played on receiving devices are described herein. Prior to calculating a QoE score, a device receives a video of a display screen of a receiving device captured while the receiving device plays a video stream. The device also receives transmission metrics from at least one device engaged in the transmission of the video stream to the receiving device. The device then calculates the QoE score for that received video based at least in part on a reference video, the transmission metrics, and one or more QoE models. Additionally, prior to receiving the video or the transmission metrics, the device may automate the transmission of the reference video as the video stream from a sending device to the receiving device over at least one network emulator, including providing network impairment settings to the network emulator.

    摘要: A system for providing a wireless device with access to a computer network includes an access point that sets up a radio link with the wireless device and couples the wireless device to the network. The system also includes a server that receives data packets from the access point through the computer network. The data packets include at least one data packet that has a first identifier that uniquely identifies the wireless device and a second identifier that corresponds to at least one of a manufacturer code or a vendor code of the wireless device. The system further includes a database that is coupled to the server and stores data for associating a service plan with the first and second identifiers and basing the service plan, at least in part, on the second identifier.
