    摘要: A process for recovering mercury from a mercury-contaminated material, comprising a step making use of a lixiviating system comprising iodide, iodate and tri-iodide ions in an effecive amount in order to desorb and complex mercury from the said material. The process may be performed in an apparatus for recovering a heavy metal from a heavy metal-contaminated material, having: a cathode compartment (1) comprising a cathode (2) and an ion-permeable housing (3) for containing a cathode solution (4), an anode compartment (5) comprising an anode (6) and an ion-permeable housing (7) for containing an anode solution (8), a cathode recipient (9) for supplying the cathode solution to the cathode compartment (1), an anode recipient (10) for supplying the anode solution to the anode compartment (5), a device for isolating, from the anode solution (8), a set of ions electrokinetically transported from the cathode solution (4) and a heavy metal complex electrokinetically transported from the heavy metal-contaminated soil, and a device for recycling the ions isolated from the anode solution (8) back to the cathode solution (4).

    摘要: To dispose of hazardous materials, for instance chlorinated compounds such as PCBs, or of materials polluted with such compounds, it is proposed to utilize the technological capabilities of already known high-temperature processes; in particular, it is proposed to utilize the technologies with high thermal production and capacity, such as the well known treatment of iron-based baths in an electric furnace, to keep the polluting materials and their cracking and oxidation derivatives at high temperature for a time sufficient to ensure their complete destruction. The end products of the treatment according to the invention, still containing aggressive molecules such as HCl, are further treated in conventional ways, for instance with calcium hydroxide.

    摘要: Method for treating waste material contaminated with heavy metals so as to make it inert, characterized in that the material to be made inert, optionally at least in part neutralized, is subjected to the following operations, optionally under stirring: addition of a concentrate aqueous solution of orthophosphoric acid and of an alkaline or alkaline earth salt thereof in a molar ratio ranging from 1:5 to 5:1; optionally addition of water to give the homogeneous paste thus obtained a sufficient moisture content; addition of calcium hydroxide and/or calcium oxide; the resulting homogeneous paste being placed in the open air to help it dry out. The material thus obtained is fit to be disposed according to local environmental legislation.
