Date Mar. 21, 1991.The invention relates to an apparatus for venting a building such as a greenhouse, by means of a sheet member which can be mounted in one or several openings of the building. The sheet member comprises a frame with four sides wherein are provided on at least two horizontal controls, which are formed as first rack bars. The frame has a horizontal edging and several parallel slats provided on at least one side hereof with a layer made of windproof and elastic material. A pinion is mounted in rotatable position opposite each guide on the edging, said pinion comprising a first and a second gear, the first gear being in mesh with the mentioned first rack bars, and the second being in mesh with teeth on the second rack mounted in movable position on the edging. A movement by the second rack bar in longitudinal direction will cause the second gear and consequently the first gear as well to rotate, whereby the edging is caused to move upwards or downwards via the first rack bars depending upon the direction of movement of the second rack bar. Consequently, the layer will either close off or clear an opening to the effect that air may vent the interior of the building.

In order to simplify the production of a combination lock as many parts as possible are standardized. This applies to the pressure pins (18), the click pawls (16) and the springs (26, 27) belonging thereto, as well as to the pivotal code units (5) which are provided with a cam (9) for impacting on the pressure pins (18) for unlocking the lock. The individual code units (5) comprise a fitting part (7) with eight fitting positions, a cam shaft (8) having a click disc (6) with eight teeth interspaces and a turn button (11) with eight fitting positions. This permits the lock to be coded during fitting in that the choice of angular positions for the base (7) gives the position of the cam (9) and hence the coding of the unit. This means that manufacture as well as fitting and coding of the lock is simplified.

A multi-vane structure for incorporation in an aircraft gas turbine engine has vanes of complex geometry made of braided fibers which are continuous about the cavities defined by the vanes. These complex geometry parts are prepared by providing a plurality of removable mandrels, stacking the mandrels along a horizontal axis in a cavity end to cavity end configuration, braiding about the mandrels, cutting the mandrels adjacent the cavity end faces, side stacking the mandrels so the faces are placed in a parallel orientation and molding. Utilizing braided fibers instead of hand lay-up woven fibers eliminates seams and produces cavities having continuous fibers about the periphery thereof which substantially increases the strength and dimensional reproducibly of the part.

A heat exchanger has walls of plastic foil for demarcation between two groups of slot-formed channels for a first and a second fluid respectively. In order to hold the walls (10, 14, 15) of the channels at a mutual distance, in each channel there is disposed a continuous distance-holding layer (7, 9) of metal or plastic material which is configured as projections, ribs or another surface structure, so that a fluid can flow through the channel (6, 8) while the channel's walls (10, 14, 15) lie up against the distance-holding layer (7, 9). The structure formed by the walls (10, 14, 15) and the distance-holding layers (7, 9) is built into a compression casing (11, 12, 13, 16, 17), so that an over-pressure in the channels (6, 8) is transferred to the compression casing (11, 12, 13, 16, 17). The walls (10, 14, 15) can be wound in spiral form. The heat exchanger can be built up of a foil tube, in which is placed an inner distance-holding layer (7), and which is wound together with an outer distance-holding layer (9) placed on the outside of the foil tube. By melting down, plane end plates (18, 19) can be formed in the ends of the heat exchanger. The distance-holding layers are of metal and/or plastic wave.

With closed woodburning stoves having a glass portion (4) in the stove door (2), there is a great problem that soot and condensate are deposited on the inner surface of the glass portion. According to the invention, this can be prevented by mounting a heat exchanger directly above the door (2) on the front part (23) inside the fire box (19), and in such a manner that the air intake (21) takes place directly through a slot (7) in the front part (23). The heat exchanger is divided into an upper chamber (13) to which the inlet air (21) is led from outside, and a lower chamber (14) from which the heated and expanded air (24) is led out through a slot (15) at the front over the glass portion, the breadth and direction of flow of said slot (15) being adapted to suit the height of the glass portion (4) and the fire box (19). The outflowing air is thus heated to a temperature of up to 250°C, and flows out at a speed which holds the glass portion (4) completely free of soot and condensate. It is also led to the combustion zone as heated primary air. This ensures a good combustion and a high degree of efficiency.

This ensures uniform loading of both the suspension and the chain, in that these are not exposed to any significant loads due to twisting or bending, whereby the hitherto-known damage by wear between the chain link and the suspension hook is avoided and the generation of noise is eliminated.

In order to be able to sand the surface of an item (3) uniformly smooth, a sanding machine is used with sanding tools in the form of sanding rollers (29) which are rotated as well as turned in the same plane, and which at the same time herewith are also moved in a reciprocating manner transversely to and parallel with the direction in which the item is conveyed, whereby during the working stroke the sanding elements on the sanding rollers (29) will sand at all possible contact angles in relation to the item (3). The risk of sanding damage such as marks and grooves as a result of over-sanding, or the possible lack of sanding as a result of too sporadic contact, is herewith reduced, and the best possible result is achieved. Furthermore, the wear on the sanding rollers (29) is completely uniform, whereby their endurance is extended. For the movement of the sanding rollers (29), there is used an apparatus comprising a motor-driven crank arm (7) which, in sliding engagement with a carriage which supports the sanding rollers (29), can drive the carriage forwards and backwards on rails (4) which extend transversely to the machine (1). There is hereby achieved a stable and robust construction which also gives the sanding rollers (29) an expedient movement characteristic, which compensates for the predominantly longitudinal sanding movements to which the items are exposed in the outer areas.
