    摘要: A gas diffusion electrode is now prepared which offers extended, efficient operation. For this, the electrode matrix may include a hydrophobic layer containing hydrophobic polymer. The electrode has hydrophilic ingredient of particulate carbon bound by hydrophilic, halogenated polymer binder. The particulate carbon used is a catalyzed carbon. The resulting efficient electrode is capable of extended operation. Moreover, on the one hand carbon catalysis can now be done in economical, straightforward manner, while on the other hand the electrode can have a surface overlay of a dimensionally stable, thin non-cellulosic paper. Such paper may be pressed against the underlying component material by a foraminous overlay, e.g., a metal mesh.

    摘要: A coating comprising aluminum and at least one of the transition metals of the groups IVB, VB and VIB are prepared comprising a unique microstructure which may be a solid solution of the transition metal in an aluminide matrix or a pseudo solid solution of the transition metal in an aluminum matrix. By means of special processes a super fine distribution of the transition metal within the matrix may be obtained in the form of a metastable pseudo solid solution even though thermodynamic considerations disfavour such fine distributions. The coating may, with advantage, be applied to superalloys and be heat treated together with the substrate in order to form a stable aluminide coating comprising transition metal dispersions in an aluminide matrix. One of the preferred manufacturing processes of such coatings is the electrodeposition thereof from non-aqueous electrolytes.

    摘要: A solid electrolyte cell comprises an alkali metal anode e.g. lithium, a halogen-containing organic polymer cathode and a solid electrolyte between the anode and the cathode. The cathode comprises iodine-containing vacuum cyclised polyacrylonitrile and the solid electrolyte is preferably lithium iodide and halogen-free vacuum cyclised polyacrylonitrile. Use of isotactic polyacrylonitrile, a method of making a cathode comprising iodine-containing vacuum cyclised polyacrylonitrile and navel methods of making the solid electrolyte cells comprising an alkali metal anode e.g. lithium, a halogen-containing organic polymer cathode and a solid electrolyte between the anode and the cathode are also disclosed.
