A steel cord (2) for an extrusion process, where a steel wire (6) is connected to the leading end of the steel cord (2). The steel wire (6) is easy to insert through an extruder head (12) and leads the steel cord (2) through the extruder head (12), to facilitate the change-over of steel cord (12) on an extruder (10) to reduce the change-over time. Also an apparatus (10), a change-over process, and the use of the steel cord (2) for an extrusion process is disclosed.

The invention relates to a wear-resistant coating used for bearing surfaces and flanks of piston rings in internal combustion engines. The wear-resistant inventive coating is obtained by mechanically alloying powders which form a metallic matrix with hard material dispersoids and lubricant material dispersoids. The coating is then thermally applied to the workpieces, especially by means of high velocity oxygen fuel spraying (HVOF). The workpieces coated are bearing surfaces and parts of flanks pertaining to piston rings in internal combustion engines.

The present invention provides a method of producing a bonded body of a beryllium member and a copper or copper alloy member, in which the bonding strength and thermal cycle resistance property are further increased. When the beryllium member and the copper or copper alloy member are bonded to each other, a thin layer of titanium, chromium, molybdenum, or silicon is formed as a diffusion inhibition layer on the surface of the beryllium; a copper layer is formed as a bonding layer on the surface of the diffusion inhibition layer; a thin layer of aluminum or zinc is formed as a bonding promotion layer on the surface of the bonding layer; and the beryllium member and the copper or copper alloy member are diffusion bonded to each other with the intermediate layer formation side being the bonding surface.
