An oxygen-scavenging composition is provided that includes an oxygen-scavenging polymer and a catalyst. The oxygen-scavenging polymer, which in preferred embodiments is suitable for use in packaging articles, is a dendritic polymer having one or more oxygen-scavenging groups.

A fullerene film and a fullerene polymer both produced from a fullerene derivative are provided which can be easily formed by a wet process and can retain the intact properties inherent in the fullerene. Also provided are processes for producing the film and polymer. A solution of a fullerene derivative decomposing at a temperature lower than the pyrolysis temperature of the fullerene, e.g., the fullerene derivative represented by the following formula, is applied to a substrate. The resultant coating film is heated at a temperature higher than the pyrolysis temperature of the fullerene derivative and lower than a pyrolysis temperature of a fullerene. Thus, a fullerene film and a fullerene polymer are obtained which retain the properties inherent in the fullerene.

The invention provides stain-proofing agents capable of forming coating films excellent in rain streak stain resistance and durability thereof, coating compositions comprising the stain-proofing agents, and articles coated therewith. A stain-proofing agent comprising a polymer which contains at least one repeating unit having at least two hydroxyl groups, wherein the content (by mass) of the repeating unit is more than 10%. A stain-proofing agent comprising a polymer which contains at least two repeating units having hydroxymethyl groups, wherein the content (by mass) of the repeating unit is more than 30%. A coating composition comprising such a stain-proofing agent and a coating resin such as a fluororesin.
