摘要:
A return mail piece (10) includes a generally rectangular sheet of material with a delimited mailing address zone (22), a bar code zone (24) in the lower right corner of the sheet, and a subclassification zone (26) in the upper left hand corner of the sheet. Site location indicia (29, 30, 32) is printed within the mailing address zone (22) to identify the address of the site location. Separate subclassification indicia (38) is printed within the subclassification zone (26) so as to identify one of a plurality of end locations as the site locations.

The present invention relates to a printing assembly for obliterating machine or the like, of the type comprising ink jets, means for guiding and driving the support to be printed before said jets, and means for detecting the feed of the support initiating the emission of ink by the jets, characterized in that the guiding and driving means include a device (6, 7) for holding the support (2) at a distance from the jets (5) by suction by means of compressed air nozzles operating at Bernouilli operating conditions.

An apparatus and method provides labels that are to be inserted into mail trays. A label printer 35 is integrated into a mail sorting machine 10. Upon a specific bin 14 of the mail sorting machine having sufficient mail pieces to fill a mail tray, the label printer prints a mail tag form 36 including a tray label 44 for the mail in such bin. This tray label 44 has printed thereon the zip code to which the mail is to be sent and the bin number in which the mail pieces are located. Upon the printing of such tray label, it is to be conveyed by the mail sorter to the appropriate bin and is immediately available to the clerk for insertion into a mail tray.

A method of producing addressed security items, for example for the production and mailing of personal cheque books, comprises reading a codeline (14) present on item (10), printing a corresponding bar code (26) on the item, e.g. the cheque book cover; enveloping the item (10) and, using the bar code (26), printing the appropriate address on the envelope (28). This method allows security items to be addressed without the need either to have an address slip permanently attached to the item, or an address slip which must be manually removed.

摘要:
A printing system for printing mail pieces including at least one page having an address. The system includes a printer (20), a controller (40), and a feeder (10,12) for selectively feeding an envelope or a cut sheet to the printer. The controller examines the text of each page to identity a destination address, and when the destination address is found prints it on an envelope for the mail piece. The system also has the capability to identify and print return addresses and the capability to print the envelope either before or after pages included in the mail piece.
摘要:
An envelope printing assembly providing for feeding of envelopes (7) and printing thereon while said envelopes (7) are in motion, including a plurality (77) of print heads (81, 83, 85, 87, 89 and 92) and a platen (75) for imprinting the envelopes (7), an envelope storage bin (5) for holding a stack of envelopes prior to printing, transport rollers (61, 67), timing control means (111) to produce timing signals corresponding to the speed of the transport rollers (61, 67), an envelope position sensor to produce control signals corresponding to envelope position, and a controller (121) to receive the timing and control signals to control the ''start time'' and speed of printing of the print heads (77), so that envelopes may be printed seriatim and lengthwise while continuously moving. The print heads (81, 83, 85, 87, 89 and 92) may be offset longitudinally to permit closer line spacing and ''start times'' of individual lines are adjusted accordingly.
