Quinoline compound, zinc halogenide complex and zinc complex suited for use in an electro-luminescence element, a fluorescent material and an ultraviolet absorption material, and a preparation process for these compounds are described. These compounds and a tautomer of the same has a strong luminescent intensity and is used for an EL material, the compound of zinc halogenide complex and zinc complex and a tautomer of the same has absorption at a wave length of 400nm or less and is used for an ultraviolet absorption material, and further the quinoline compound and a tautomer has a strong luminescent intensity and is used for a fluorescent material. The zinc halogenide complex and zinc complex can be prepared by each other related preparation processes directly from a quinoline derivative and a phthalimide derivative, or by way of the quinoline compound which is obtained from these derivatives.

The present invention relates to a thermosetting powder paint comprising, as essential components, (A) a copolymer of particular composition composed of a glycidyl group-containing monomer, styrene and other monomer copolymerizable therewith and, as curing agents capable of reacting with the component (A) to crosslink the component (A), (B) an aliphatic polycarboxylic acid and (C) a linear anhydride of an aliphatic polycarboxylic acid; a coating method using the above thermosetting powder paint; and a coated article obtained by using the above thermosetting powder paint. The above thermosetting powder paint, when used as a paint for automobile, has excellent storage stability and gives a coating film having excellent appearance, properties, weathering resistance and yellowing resistance; therefore, the paint can be favorably used particularly as an top coat and an intermediate coat for automobile and its parts.

This invention relates to (1) an optical resin composition comprising Component A: a thiourethane prepolymer compound prepared by reacting a polythiol compound having at least 3 functional groups and an intramolecular sulfide bond, with a polyisocyanate compound in a molar ratio of -SH to -NCO ranging from 3.0 to 7.0; Component B: at least one (meth)acrylate compound having at least 2 functional groups; and Component C: a compound radically polymerizable with Components A and B, in 10 to 50% by weight, 35 to 70% by weight, and 5 to 30% by weight, respectively; (2) a preparation process for an optical resin by photopolymerization; (3) an optical resin; and (4) a prepolymer suitable for Component A. A composition of this invention is a novel, rapidly polymerizable composition for an optical resin. Furthermore, a resin prepared by curing a composition of this invention not only has a high refractive index and a high Abbe number, but also is excellent in transparency and optical homogeneity.
