The invention relates to a material for limited selective adsorption and/or absorption of endogenic substances in the blood which have a harmful effect on metabolism when they exceed the corresponding norms. Said material comprises at least the following: a blood-permeable and blood-compatible matrix (2), especially in the form of a membrane (1); and a support, which is incorporated into the matrix (2) or is treated in relation to the matrix and which is loaded with at least one endogenic substance (X) and with an antithrombotic agent (Y), hereby forming a support/substance/antithrombotic agent adduct (3), the concentration of the loaded endogenic substance (X) being below its normal value, so that due to the concentration gradient of this substance within the blood (4) and matrix (2) system, the substance (X') that is harmful to metabolism is adsorbed/absorbed until the normal level is re-established. At the same time, the antithrombotic agent (Y) is released by desorption. The inventive material is characterised in that the support is a molecular sieve which also forms a molecular sieve/substance/antithrombotic agent adduct (3), said adduct additionally containing water of crystallisation, in such a way that the molecular sieve is partially dehydrated with reference to a sufficient basic molar quantity (m) of water of crystallisation. The molecular sieve with the reduced molar quantity (m') of water of crystallisation is loaded with the endogenic substance (X) and the antithrombotic agent (Y), so that when the matrix (2) comes into contact with the blood, water is adsorbed and the antithrombotic agent is desorbed, whereby the water of crystallisation content of the molecular sieve increases. The invention also relates to an advantageous method for producing the inventive material.
