Systems and/or methods for supporting communications at a reduced bandwidth with a full bandwidth network such as a long-term evolution (LTE) network may be disclosed. For example, inband assignments such as downlink assignments and/or uplink grants may be provided and/or received and transmissions may be monitored and/or decoded based on the inband assignment. Additionally, information (e.g. a definition or configuration) associated with an ePDCCH may be provided and/or received and ePD -CCH resources may be monitored and/or decoded based on such information. An indication for support of a reduced bandwidth by the full bandwidth network may also be provided and/or received and control channels in the reduced or narrow bandwidth may be monitored and/or decoded based on the indication. A PRACH preamble and/or a multi-type sub frame definition may also be provided and/or used for support of such a reduced bandwidth.

Half duplex (HD) frequency division duplexing (FDD) in a wireless transmit-receive unit (WTRU) using a single oscillator (SO) for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL), which may contribute to reduced costs of implementation. Approaches to the resolution of scheduling issues which may result from increased switching time versus implementations using separate oscillators are discussed, including indication of SO-HD-FDD capability, scheduling for collision avoidance, enhanced node-b (eNB) receiver implementations, link adaptation for missed detected physical downlink control and shared channels, collision handling, DL measurement, and burst based transmissions.

A method and apparatus for providing for full-duplex (FD) operation in time division duplex (TDD) communications are disclosed herein. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive an indication of a first, UL heavy, TDD uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) configuration and an indication of a second, DL heavy, TDD UL/DL configuration. The WTRU may also receive a grant in a common DL subframe. The WTRU may apply the hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process timing associated with one of the TDD UL/DL configurations for DL HARQ feedback. Also, the WTRU may monitor a set of subframes for a UL or a DL grant. Further, the WTRU may receive a grant in a subframe which may include an indication of a reference TDD UL/DL configuration. The WTRU may then apply the HARQ process timing associated with the reference TDD UL/DL configuration for DL HARQ feedback.

A method and apparatus are described for a low cost machine-type-communication (LC-MTC) wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to enhance coverage. An example method for physical broadcast channel (PBCH) enhancement includes receiving system information on an enhanced PBCH (ePBCH). The ePBCH is located in a set of radio frames which is a subset of available radio frames, where the subset includes fewer than all the available radio frames. The ePBCH is received in at least one radio frame of the set of radio frames. An example method for physical random access channel (PRACH) enhancement includes receiving configuration of legacy PRACH resources and enhanced PRACH (ePRACH) resources. The WTRU selects one of legacy PRACH resources or ePRACH resources based on a coverage capability. Another example method for PRACH enhancement includes receiving configuration of ePRACH resources. The ePRACH resources include multiple ePRACH resource types, each ePRACH resource type being associated with a coverage capability.

The method in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes monitoring a first frequency for all downlink sub-frames for downlink communication except during a cell specific uplink frame, retuning to a second frequency and transmitting a scheduling request (SR) during a WTRU specific period of the cell specific uplink frame, wherein the WTRU specific period is based on a duty cycle, and retuning to the first frequency and receiving an uplink grant in a subsequent sub-frame.

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising a transmitter and a processor may be configured to receive time division duplex (TDD) configuration information and a grant for uplink transmission. The grant may indicate a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. The WTRU may be configured to determine time intervals for downlink communication, uplink communication and uplink and downlink communication based on the TDD configuration. The transmitter may be configured to transmit using the indicated HARQ process in a time interval for uplink and downlink communication.
