A method and apparatus for providing timing operations in time division duplex (TDD) communications are disclosed herein. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising a transmitter and a processor may be configured to receive time division duplex (TDD) configuration information and a grant for uplink transmission. The grant may indicate a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. The WTRU may be configured to determine time intervals for downlink communication, uplink communication and uplink and downlink communication based on the TDD configuration. The transmitter may be configured to transmit using the indicated HARQ process in a time interval for uplink and downlink communication.

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for Uplink operation in LTE unlicensed spectrum (LTE-U). A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive licensed assisted access (LAA) configuration information, e.g., for a first cell from a second cell. The first cell may be associated with operation in an unlicensed band, and the second cell may be associated with operation in a licensed band. The WTRU may determine whether a first subframe subframe is a sounding reference signal (SRS) subframe for the first cell. If the first subframe is an SRS subframe for the first cell, the WTRU may determine SRS resources for the first subframe and determine whether the WTRU is triggered to transmit an SRS transmission in the first subframe. If it is determined the WTRU is triggered to transmit the SRS transmission in the first subframe, the WTRU may transmit the SRS transmission on the SRS resources for the first subframe.

A method and apparatus for uplink feedback for operating with a large number of carriers are disclosed herein. A method in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes receiving a plurality of transport blocks over a set of a plurality of configured carriers, generating hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgment (ACK) feedback for the transport blocks and determining a number of HARQ-ACK feedback bits to use for the HARQ-ACK feedback. Further, the WTRU may apply, to the HARQ-ACK feedback bits, Reed-Muller coding on a condition that the number of HARQ-ACK feedback bits is less than or equal to a threshold or convolutional coding on a condition that the number of HARQ-ACK feedback bits is greater than a threshold. The WTRU may then transmit the encoded HARQ-ACK feedback bits. In addition, the WTRU may conditionally append cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits onto the HARQ-ACK feedback bits, and encode and transmit the CRC bits.

The WTRU may receive a request in a Downlink Control Information (DCI) signal for measurement and reporting, wherein the request may indicate at least one time/frequency resource in at least one subframe for performing a measurement in an unlicensed band. The WTRU may then perform the measurement according to the request. and send a measurement report based on the performed measurement. The WTRU may receive a TPC command in a subframe n of a downlink (DL) transmission, determine a subframe n+k of a UL transmission that the received TPC command corresponds to, determine which of the UL subframe sets the UL transmission subframe n+k belongs to, and adjust a TPC command accumulator value that corresponds to the determined UL subframe set to determine power of the UL transmission when transmitting in the UL transmission subframe, where n is an integer, and k is an integer greater than zero.

Embodiments contemplate techniques to avoid restrictions on uplink transmissions on a cell (perhaps due to subframe configuration), such as on a primary cell, where the restrictions may make relay node uplink control information transmission difficult (if not impossible) on the interface between a relay node and a donor eNodeB (DeNB).
