摘要:
In a device for controlling the rotational speed of a motor according to the present invention, feedback control of the number of revolutions of the motor is carried out by a speed difference control signal and a phase difference control signal so that the motor is rotated at constant speed. The phase difference which is a basis of the phase difference control signal is found in a control portion (14) in the following manner. A first time period from the reference time point to the time when the newest detection pulse is outputted is calculated every time a predetermined number of detection pulses are counted by detection pulse counters (131, 133, 134, 136), a second time period from the reference time point to the time when a command pulse, which is assigned an ordinal number equal to the ordinal number of the newest detection pulse, corresponding to the newest detection pulse is outputted is calculated on the basis of the total number of pulses counted by the detection pulse counters in the time period from the reference time point to the time when the newest detection pulse is outputted and the period of the command pulse, and the phase difference between the newest detection pulse and the command pulse corresponding thereto is calculated on the basis of the first time period and the second time period calculated and the period of the command pulse. A phase difference control signal proportional to the phase difference calculated is determined.

The present invention relates to an error detecting unit (3) of a rotational detector (1) for outputting two kinds of pulse signals (A, B) of which frequency according to rotation is equal, having a phase difference, and the error detecting unit (3) can detect an error of the rotational detector (1) without fail. For this reason, the error detecting unit (3) according to the present invention can judge whether or not either edge of upstroke or downstroke of the two kinds of pulse signals (A, B) appear alternately and can detect an error of the corresponding rotational detector (1).

An image forming apparatus comprises a movable optical system (28) for reading an original image, a motor (61) for driving the optical system, a motor driving circuit (70), an encoder (62) which outputs signals responsive to velocities of the motor (61), a control circuit (69) which controls the motor driving circuit (70) such that the optical system (28) starts from a home position and turns at a predetermined point to return again to the home position, and applies braking to the motor (61) when the optical system (28) is stopped at the home position, and a microcomputer for deciding timing to apply braking in response to an output of the encoder. By deciding brake timing in response to the output of the encoder, the optical system can be stopped accurately at the home position even when a moving load is increased abnormally due to stains on component members of a running path (45, 59) for the optical system, or replacement of the optical system (28).

A motor control device carries out feedback control of a motor such that the rotational speed of the motor is equal to the command speed. A control voltage is first calculated as the sum of a first constant times the difference between the command speed and the actual rotational speed, a second constant times the actual rotational speed and a predetermined offset value. The calculated control voltage is corrected on the basis of the phase difference between the command speed and the actual rotational speed and a voltage after the correction is outputted as a motor control voltage. The rotational speed of the motor can be caused to rapidly follow the target speed by adjusting the first and second constants and the offset value whether the command speed is relatively low or high, thereby to make it possible to control the motor at a constant speed.
