    摘要: The invention is directed to a process for the production and recovery of chemicals, in particular hydrocarbons, from a fermentation medium, wherein solvent impregnated carriers are used. Accordingly, the invention provides a process for the production of hydrocarbon from a fermentation liquid comprising:

    forming said hydrocarbon from said fermentation liquid using a biocatalyst;
    contacting said fermentation liquid with a solvent impregnated carrier, whereby said formed hydrocarbon is sorbed by said solvent impregnated carrier;
    regenerating said solvent impregnated carrier, whereby a stream of said hydrocarbon is obtained; and
    optionally, recycling said regenerated solvent impregnated carrier.
    In particular, PHB (4-hydroxybenzoic acid) can be produced and isolated from the fermentation medium by means of such a "solvent extraction" procedure, which uses porous solid supports for the "immobilization" of the solvent.

    - wherein the residence time of said absorption liquid in said membrane unit is τ; wherein τ = V /ϕ v , wherein V is the volume of said absorption liquid compartment and ϕ v is the volumetric flow rate of said absorption liquid stream; and
    - wherein for a duration less than τ the flow direction of said absorption liquid is changed.

    A more energy efficient and compact membrane gas desorption process can be obtained by integrating membrane gas desorption and heat exchange.
    The process comprises: (a) providing rich absorption liquid, rich in said gas, (b) heating said rich absorption liquid, (c) contacting heated absorption liquid with a membrane, thereby desorbing at least part of said gas and evaporating part of said absorption liquid, providing vapour, passing desorbed gas and vapour through said membrane from a retentate side to a permeate side of said membrane, providing lean absorption liquid, (d) condensing at least part of said vapour on one or more condensers in heat exchange with the rich absorption liquid, providing a condensate, and using at least part of the heat of condensation for heating said rich absorption liquid in (b).
