    摘要: Apparatus for combining an auxiliary image and a main image includes a source of a main image video signal and a source of samples representing an auxiliary image video signal having successive fields. A quincunx subsampler is coupled to the auxiliary image sample source and subsamples the auxiliary image samples in either a first sample pattern in which samples are taken at a first set of horizontal locations, or a second sample pattern in which samples are taken at a second set of horizontal locations substantially midway between the first set, all in response to a control signal. A signal combiner is coupled to the quincunx subsampler and the main image signal source, and combines the main image signal and a signal representing the quincunx subsampled auxiliary image samples to generate a signal representing a combine image of the main and auxiliary images. A control circuit generates the quincunx subsampler control signal so that the quincunx subsampler takes samples in one of the sample patterns at the beginning of each auxiliary image video signal field, and in the other sample pattern after a switch time calculated so that the quincunx subsampled auxiliary image samples in the combined image all are taken by the same sample pattern.

    摘要: A composite video input signal is combined with a noise reduction signal to form a noise reduced first video signal which is delayed by multiple time periods of (i) one line less one-half color cycle, (ii) one line and (iii) one line plus one-half color cycle to form respective ones of first, second and third time delayed signals. The first and third delayed signals are combined to form an average signal from which a subtractor substracts the composite video input signal. The resultant difference signal is limited to form the noise reduction signal. The noise reduced first video signal and the second delayed video signal are combined in an output circuit to provide noise reduced and separated chrominance and luminance output signals.

The first and second video signals are combined for side-by-side display of the pictures. If the first and second display format ratios are each approximately 4:3 and the third display format ratio is approximately 16:9, each of the side-by-side pictures can be displayed in a format display ratio of approximately 8:9. If each of the video signals is speeded up by approximately 4/3 and cropped horizontally by approximately 1/3, each of the side-by-side pictures is displayed substantially without aspect ratio distortion.
