    摘要: A female connection member (10) used in conjunction with a slackless type drawbar assembly which connects together adjacently disposed ends of a pair of railway cars in a substantially semi-permanent fashion. The female connection member (10) including a first end portion (12), having a configuration to enable the first end portion of such female member (10) to be engaged within an outer end portion of a center sill member disposed on a bottom portion of a car body member of a railway car. A radially opposed second end portion of (20) the female member (10) extends outwardly from such outer end portion of such center sill member. There is a cavity (14) provided in such radially opposed second end portion (20) of the female member (10). Such cavity (14) is defined by an inner surface (16) of a back wall portion (18), an inner surface (22) of a top wall portion (24) and an inner surface (26) of a pair of side wall portions (28). The cavity (14) is open adjacent at least a portion of a bottom (32) and an outer end (34) of such radially opposed second end portion (20) of the female member (10). A first opening (36) is formed through a first one of such pair of side wall portions (28) and a radially opposed second opening is formed through a second one of such pair of side wall portions (28).

    摘要: A slackless drawbar includes a first female connection member (20), having a first cavity (14), engaging one end of a first railway car. First and second openings (30,36) are formed through respective first and second side wall portions (26,28) of such first cavity. A first male connection member (40) has a portion movably disposed in such first cavity (14). A first aperture (44) is formed through such first male member (40). A first ball member (46) has a portion disposed in such first aperture (44) and a first pair of shaft members (48,50) extends from outer surfaces thereof. A portion of one shaft member (48) is disposed in the first opening (30) and a portion of another one is disposed in the second opening (36). Such first pair of shafts have opposed flat surface portions. A first race assembly (56) is disposed in such first aperture (44) and secured to the first male member. An inner surface of such first race surrounds such first ball (46). A second female connection member, having a second cavity, engages one end of a second car.
    In similar manner the details of the second end of the drawbar are mirror images of the above mentioned first end.
