    摘要: A clutch driven plate which includes a hub (10), an outer annular friction member (11) rotatable relative to the hub through a first angular range against the action of a first or so-called idle damper which damps small torsional vibrations which occur typically at engine idle speeds and is rotatable relative to the hub through a further second angular range against the action of a further second or main drive damper, both the idle and main drive damper including first (21) and second (16) respective circumferentially acting springs. The idle damper also includes a first friction damping means (22) which provides a first level of frictional resistance to relative rotation during a first portion of the first angular range of rotation and a second friction damping means (23) which provides a second and higher level of frictional resistance during a second portion of the first angular range of rotation. The main drive damper may also include a third friction damping means which provides further frictional resistance during the main drive range of operation of the driven plate.

    摘要: A cable operated drum brake has an internal brake operating lever (12) provided with an quick-attach device (10) for an operating cable (11). A cable attachment tube (21) projects from a backplate (17) of the brake and the operating cable has a cable inner (13) with a latching formation (14) on the end thereof and a cable outer sleeve (15). An end portion of the operating cable is slideable towards (X) the backplate (17) within the tube (21) up to a first position at which further movement towards the backplate is stopped by contact between an abutment (26) on the tube and a co­operating abutment (31 a) on the cable outer sleeve. When in the first position the latching formation (14) has moved passed the quick-attach device (10). The cable is then subsequently moveable away from the backplate (Y) within the tube to a second position in which the latching formation (14) on the cable inner is fully engaged with the quick-attach device (10). A fastening means (39,40) is provided to lock the cable in the second position relative to the tube to maintain the latching formation (14) engaged with the quick-attach device (10) during subsequent operation of the brake. The invention also provides a method of attaching an operating cable to a quick-attach device on an internal brake operating lever of a drum brake.

    摘要: A parking brake actuating mechanisms (10) having first (11) and second (15) pivotally interconnected levers which act between brake shoes (14,18) so that pivoting (P) of the first lever relative to the second lever increases the effective length of the mechanism thus moving the associated brake shoes apart to engage the parking brake. The first lever includes an actuating cable abutment formation (31a) against which an actuating cable nipple (28) on a free end of a cable (27) is drawn to move the first lever (11) hence operating the mechanism. The first lever is also of hollow form defining a guide passage (29) through which the free end of the cable is directed from an aperture (24) in the backplate (23) of the associated brake to a location adjacent to the abutment formation (31a) to enable the nipple to be engaged with the formation. A leaf spring (40) is also provided to tend to maintain the cable nipple (28) in position for engagement with the abutment formation (31a) on the first lever (11).
