Abstract:
Molds for fabrication of custom and potentially modifiable abutments and impression posts for dental implants with various degrees of angulations (including zero degrees) and various dimensions are provided, with a generally oval shape that expands laterally upwards, a symmetrical or asymmetrical cross-section, and regular surfaces, that are fabricated as one piece, or as two coupling pieces snapping onto each other. Custom abutments achieve the development of a custom gingival emergence profile, three dimensionally, which is potentially modifiable according to the needs of each particular clinical case. Custom impression posts that correspond in dimensions and angulations to the abutments allow the accurate recording and transfer of the developed gingival emergence profile from the mouth onto the working cast, where the final implant prosthesis is fabricated. Custom abutments and impression posts have properties and design that allows their preparation and usage as temporary abutments for the cementation and support of temporary prostheses.
Abstract:
An appliance and methods are described that include embodiments of a mandibular advancement or positioning device which can use elastic bands to pull the jaw forward. The appliance has an upper plastic tray conforming to the patient's upper teeth and including a set of retention hooks coupled to the upper plastic tray via being encased in plastic, one on the right and one on the left anterior buccal portion of an upper plastic base. The appliance also has a lower plastic tray conforming to the patient's lower teeth and has a set of bite pads integrated with a second set of plastic retention hooks encased in plastic extending outwardly from the tooth. The appliance includes the upper and lower plastic trays and specially formed elastic bands of a plurality of lengths and strengths replaceably attached to the retention hooks on both sides of the trays to pull the mandible forward for treatment.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A mill blank assembly for a dental prosthesis includes a milling section and a support section for supporting the assembly in a milling machine. In certain embodiments, the milling section is adhesively bonded to the support section by a direct chemical bond that provides enhanced resistance to unintentional detachment of the milling section from the support section during a subsequent machining operation. Optionally, the support section includes a passageway that receives a quantity of flowable dental restorative material used to make the milling section, such that the restorative material that is located in the passageway provides additional resistance when hardened to unintentional detachment of the milling section from the support section.
Abstract:
The invention provides a curable system and method of making a dental prosthesis. The method of making a dental prosthesis includes providing a one component denture base resin composition which is polymerizable by microwave energy. The one component denture base resin composition is injected into a mold enclosed by a flask having a body wall which is substantially transparent to the microwave energy. The curable system includes microwave energy sensitive initiators and polymerizables (meth)acrylate Monomers having molecular weights preferably between 400 and 20,000. The initiators are adapted to initiate polymerization of the polymerizable Monomers by application of microwave energy to the flask. The initiators are adapted to remain stable and not initiate polymerization of the Monomers for at least one year at 23 ° C in the absence of microwave energy.
Abstract:
An injection method for moulding denture plates uses a mould formed of a pair of stones with embedded replica teeth the stones being formed themselves in a chamber defined between a pair of relatively good thermally conductive (5, 6) spaced apart by a body (1, 2) of relatively lower thermal conductivity, the body having a neck (13, 14) which carries an injection cylinder housing (17), the method including initial polymerisation of pressure injected mixture of polymer and monomer at a controlled temperature sufficient only to cause orderly polymerisation without appreciable exothermal effects.
Abstract:
