There is disclosed a reconfigurable antenna device comprising a plurality of antennas disposed about a periphery of a substantially rectangular shape having top, bottom, left and right sides. The antenna device includes a first balanced antenna having first and second radiating arms each having a proximal portion and a distal portion, proximal portions extending along the top side in respectively opposed directions from a substantially central feed point, and the distal portions extending part way down the left and right sides. The antenna device further includes a first unbalanced antenna located generally between the distal portions and adjacent to the proximal portions of the first and second radiating arms. In addition, the antenna device includes a second balanced antenna having a first radiating arm extending up the left side from a feed peed point in a bottom left corner of the periphery and a second radiating arm extending along the bottom side from the feed point in the bottom left corner of the periphery, and a third balanced antenna having a first radiating arm extending up the right side from a feed point in a bottom right corner of the periphery and a second radiating arm extending along the bottom side from the feed point in the bottom right corner of the periphery.

The low-band radiator includes a dipole with two dipole arms adapted for the low band and for connection to an antenna feed. At least one dipole arm of the dipole includes at least two dipole segments and at least one radio frequency choke. The choke is disposed between the dipole segments. Each choke provides an open circuit or a high impedance separating adjacent dipole segments to minimize induced high band currents in the low-band radiator and consequent disturbance to the high band pattern. The choke is resonant at or near the frequencies of the high band.

A current distribution is controlled (e.g. by one or more inductors 102,108) in one or more conductive radiating elements (101a,101b,107) of an antenna (100,106) to form, at every wavelength within a pattern wavelength range, an antenna radiation pattern having a peak in a direction substantially orthogonal to a length of an elongated conductive radiating element or elements (101a,101b,107). By careful control of the current distribution, the pattern wavelength range is made exceptionally broad. In the case of a dipole antenna (100), the pattern wavelength can range from about 1/3l to at least about 8l, where l is an approximate combined length of a pair of elongated elements (101a,101b) forming a dipole antenna (100). Alternatively, in the case of a monopole antenna (106), the pattern wavelength range can extend from about 1/6l to at least about 4l, where l is an approximate overall length of the monopole antenna (106).

The present invention discloses an antenna radiating element and an antenna, where the antenna radiating element includes a pair of crosswise disposed dipoles and parasitic element assemblies; the parasitic element assembly is disposed in an included angle formed by two neighboring dipole arms of the crosswise disposed dipoles; the parasitic element assembly is fastened to the dipole; and a radiation signal transmitted by the dipole is reflected and converged by using the parasitic element assembly. In embodiments of the present invention, an antenna radiating element can be formed by additionally disposing parasitic element assemblies around a pair of crosswise disposed dipoles. The antenna radiating element has a very simple structure, may be directly formed by sheet metal parts, and is convenient to process and manufacture. In the embodiments of the present invention, the parasitic element assembly performs secondary reflection and convergence on a radiation signal transmitted by the dipole, so as to generate new radiation, which helps expand a caliber of an original dipole, thereby converging a beam width of an entire antenna on a horizontal plane. This achieves an effect of reducing a volume of the entire antenna, the antenna has a simple structure and a light weight, and therefore both production costs and maintenance costs are reduced.
