摘要: Methods and nodes for enabling a teleconference involving multiple peer nodes in a P2P network (502). A first peer node (500) appoints a subset of the peer nodes to act as Floor Control Peers, FCPs, (504) in a floor control overlay by handling floor requests from peer nodes to make input to a floor in the teleconference. The first peer node (500) creates a tree structure (506) of the appointed FCPs which is distributed to the P2P network and can be accessed by a joining peer node to discover a primary FCP in the tree and send floor requests to the primary FCP. A floor chair function (508) is also created in the floor control overlay maintaining a floor record (508a) with information about floor utilization which can be provided to the FCPs. Thereby, joining peer nodes are enabled to join the teleconference and find respective primary FCPs in the floor control overlay based on the tree structure, and to make input to the at least one floor of the teleconference depending on the information in the floor record. In this way, the teleconference is handled by the appointed FCPs and does not require any centralized components for floor control.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for measuring the audience of a television channel, comprising: a) connecting (88) at least one monitored peer to a peer-to-peer network; b) the monitored peer sending (102) a request to at least one other peer of the peer-to-peer network; c) the monitored peer receiving (94), in response to the request, a list of neighboring peers receiving the same television channel in a continuous stream over said peer-to-peer network; d) the monitored peer updating (142) its own list of neighboring peers by adding, to said list, identifiers of neighboring peers which are in the list received during step c) and which were not already in its own list of neighboring peers. The method also comprises constructing (170) the audience measurement from the list of neighboring peers of the monitored peer.

摘要: A method and apparatus for maintaining routing information in a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network are provided. The method includes that: a super maintenance node receives routing update information of an ordinary node in its home area; the super maintenance node sends routing update information to super maintenance nodes in other network areas; the super maintenance nodes in other network areas notify ordinary nodes in their home network areas to update routing information. With the present invention, a node of strong processing capabilities at the network area border is chosen to act as a super maintenance node and other nodes as ordinary nodes; when a node joins or fails, an ordinary node sends detected routing update information only to the super maintenance node in the local network area; the super maintenance node then forwards the update information to super maintenance nodes in other network areas. Each super maintenance node notifies ordinary nodes in its home network area of the received routing update information.

摘要: A system and method for managing content data transfers in a peer-to-peer communications network is described. The system includes a hierarchical arrangement of tracker modules, each tracker module being responsible for managing a tracker domain of network elements. Each tracker module has stored therein a content table including a record of content data available to the network elements within its respective tracker domain. Each tracker module responsible for a tracker domain containing end user peers is configured so that, if a content data request is received from a requesting peer in its respective tracker domain and the requested content is held by other peers in that tracker domain, a list of peers having the content data stored thereon is sent to the requesting peer. If the requested content is not held by enough other peers in that tracker domain, the content data request is transferred to the next tracker module up in the hierarchy.

摘要: Methods and devices enable a device located on a source network (100) to appear as a virtual device on a target network (116). Agent applications running on computers on the source and target networks communicate over a peer-to-peer network enabled by a super-peer networking server (140) on the Internet (114). To share a device, the target network agent (126) requests the source network agent (108) to provide access to a device in the source network. The source network agent sends the device name, properties, and service template information to the target network agent. The target network agent uses the received information to announce itself as the device to the target network. Devices on the target network may request device services from the target network agent. Such requests are repackaged by the target network agent and sent to the source network agent. The source network agent redirects the service request to the actual device and redirects received responses to the target network agent. The target network agent receives the processes forwards service response to the requesting device. Thereafter, the requesting device on the first network can directly access services from the device on the second network as if the two devices were on the same network. Using such methods, devices on a local network may access services available on an Internet server as if the server was on the local network.
