摘要:
The method according to the invention allows the production of patch-rubbers intended to repair radial-ply and bias-ply tires. Said patch-rubbers, while showing the same strength as the nowadays known, are more flexible and do not affect the original mechanical features and performances of the regions of the tires having been repaired therewith. The patch-rubbers obtained by implementing the method are also suitable to perform retreading operations on tires by means of both high pressure molding machines and autoclaves. The method essentially consists in inclining, in respect of the longitudinal or symmetry axes of the patch-rubbers, alternatively in the clockwise and in the counterclockwise direction, the cords made of a fibre and embedded into each one ply of a plurality of superposed plies, and in superposing to said plies, having said cords made of a fibre embedded therein, a further ply of smaller area having rectilinear metallic or fibre cords embedded therein; said further ply being so positioned that, when the patch-rubber is applied to the tire to be repaired, said metallic or fibre cords either match the direction of the radial metallic cords forming the casing of radial-ply tires in the sidewalls and in the tread respectively, or form a given angle with the direction of the biased metallic cords forming the casing of bias-ply tires.

Methods and a tire patch for repairing a damaged tire portion are provided. In one embodiment, such method includes the steps of: buffing an interior surface of the tire about a perimeter of the damaged tire portion to form a patch receiving surface, the interior surface being buffed to a depth sufficient to place a tire patch reinforcement of a tire patch a distance of approximately 3 millimeters or less from a damaged tire reinforcement; covering the damaged portion by applying a pre-assembled patch to the patch receiving surface along the interior surface of the tire, the tire patch sized to cover the damaged area, such patch including a reinforcement layer interposed between an air-impermeable layer and an adhesive layer, the adhesive layer being at least partially uncured for facilitating attachment of the repair patch to the tire; and, curing the patch to the tire.

Methods and articles utilizing a bonding material comprising ultra-accelerators and solvent-swollen diene rubber. Particular embodiments include a method for bonding surfaces of vulcanized diene rubber components. The method includes the steps of applying a bonding material having the solvent-swollen diene rubber and one or more ultra-accelerators to a surface of a first vulcanized rubber component and positioning a surface of a second vulcanized rubber component to oppose the surface of the first vulcanized rubber component with the bonding material between the opposing surfaces. The method further includes the step of bonding the opposing surfaces through the bonding material therebetween.

A. repaired elastomer article having a cut or crack entirely therethrough. An interior cavity is located in the vicinity of the cut or crack and has a filler therein. A treating agent is located about the cut portion on the inner surface of the article and an amine curable polymer or prepolymer resides over said treating agent. A cured elastomeric patch resides over said amine curable polymer or prepolymer. Since the amine curable polymer or prepolymer cures at ambient temperatures, the repair of the elastomer article can occur in situ. The invention is especially useful in the repair of tires.
