    摘要: A process for improving the stability of a polymer comprises mixing the polymer with a sulphurcontaining compound under conditions which cause oxidation of the compound, and adding an ultra-violet stabiliser to the polymer. Oxidation may be achieved by conducting the mixing in closed apparatus, in the presence of a peroxide, or in apparatus open to the atmosphere. The uv stabiliser may be added before mixing, e.g. chemically incorporated in the sulphur-containing compound.

    (A) at least one antioxidant selected from:
    (i) a thiodialkylene bis-(3,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxy) hydrocinnamate antioxidant; (ii) an N,N'-alkylene bis-(3,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxy) hydro- cinnamamide antioxidant; (iii) an O,O-dialkyl-3,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxybenzyl phosphonate antioxidant; (iv) an oxamidobis alkyl (3,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate antioxidant; and (v) a [3-(3,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionamido]alkyl stearate antioxidant; and (B) a UV stabilizer package comprising:
    (vi) at least one UV stabilizer of the hindered amine type, with or without (vii) at least one UV absorber.

    摘要: In the cross-linking of polymers containing ethylenic unsaturation, especially natural and synthetic rubbers of the isoprene or styrene-butadiene series, S-acyl derivatives of N-substituted thiohydroxylamines, previously known to be useful as accelerators for vulcanisation by sulphur or sulphur donors, can be used themselves as sole vulcanisation agents. The preferred compounds for this purpose are the N-dithiocarbamoyl derivatives of amines, amides or imides, e.g. S-(N',N'-dimethylamino)-N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate, S-(acetylamino) N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate or S-(phthalimido)-di-n-butyldithiocarbamate. Typical advantages of the resultant rubbers are better resistance to heat ageing and resistance to compression set when compared with sulphur cured rubbers and greater processing safety than TMTD-cured rubbers.
