A local clock signal is developed which correlates in time to the modulated signal and has a plurality of non-overlapping phase sectors per cycle. The modulated signal is accumulated into an accumulated value, separately for at least one phase sector of one cycle of the local clock signal. Each accumulated value is representative of a modulation signal component. The modulated signal accumulated is of an amount representative of the mathematical integral of the modulated signal during each phase sector of the local clock over which the modulated signal is accumulated.

A method of digitally filtering an audio signal using an adjusted audio filter. The adjusted audio filter is represented by an impulse response including a waveform in its time domain represented by a sine function of absolute values. A composite audio filter is derived from two adjusted audio filters although any number of filters may be used. The composite audio filter generally includes a bank of the filters which together define a frequency bandwidth representative of the audio signal or spectrum to be filtered. Also a bandpass filter is constructed by combining frequency responses for sine components of absolute values integrated from 0 to bpf and sine components of absolute values integrated from 1/bpf to 0. The frequency response may be the sum of the frequency responses for each of the filters used to create the composite bandpass filter.

The invention relates to a method for reconstruction of original signals from relative measurements. According to the invention, the amplitude distortion in a measuring system is exactly compensated by a compensation filter, whereby the compensation filter is unequivocally determined by the measuring system. The described system function of the measuring system may be inverted with minimal dephasing, whereby all zero points lying outside the unity circle are mirrored about the unity circle and thus arrive within the unity circle. Examples of advantageous application are the reconstruction of measurements from a Wandersehnen method and for the reconstruction of track bed measurements in rail traffic.

Even when a time series data varies in a relatively short period of time as is in a series of signals issued from a living organism, it is possible for the present invention to have a doctor precisely grasp variations in amplitude of even a weak one of frequency components of the time series data. In order to decompose the time series data into a plurality of the frequency components according to the present invention, a set of band pass filters are prepared. The band pass filters have their cut-off frequencies shifted or offset from each other by their passing band widths, respectively. The individual band pass filters process the time series data to produce such frequency components. These frequency components are then sampled in amplitude at predetermined time intervals. The thus sampled amplitudes of the frequency components are transformed into corresponding densities of a predetermined color including a gray color according to a predetermined color scale or a predetermined gray scale, and then displayed on a display screen on the basis of a time base of the display screen.
