Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft einerseits Dämmstoff-Trockenzusammensetzung zur Herstellung einer Trittschall- und Wärmedämmung. Diese Dämmstoff-Trockenzusammensetzungen weisen einen geringen Anteil von hydraulischem Bindemittel, einen Dispersionskunststoff sowie einen hohen Anteil an Polystyrol in Form von geschäumten Polystyrolperlen und geschäumten Polystyrolgranulat auf. Die Dämmstoff-Trockenzusammensetzung bzw. die mit Wasser angemachte Dämmstoffzusammensetzung eigenen sich ausserordentlich gut zur Erstellung von Trittschall- und Wärmedämmungen, insbesondere für Böden. Sie zeichnen sich durch äusserst hohe Wärme- und Trittschalleigenschaften sowie eine schnelle Begehbarkeit, bzw. kurze Belegereifen, aus.

The invention relates to a thermally stable composition, and methods for the preparation thereof, for use in the manufacture of a lightweight aggregate including a continuous bituminous phase, a discontinuous aqueous phase, an anionic oxide suspended in the discontinuous aqueous phase and at least one emulsifying agent. The anionic oxide may be a naturally occurring metal oxide having a needle-like crystal structure such as red oxide (CuO) or yellow oxide. The continuous bituminous phase may be for example grade 170 bitumen or crude oil, hydrocarbons or mixtures thereof. The emulsifying agent may be a clay emulsifier such as sodium bentonite, or a hydrous aluminium silicose or montmorillonite clay. The invention also relates to lightweight aggregate particles coated with such compositions and building materials formed from the lightweight aggregate in combination with a cementitious material.

A wet type spray refractory coating composition having high fluidity at the time of pressure-feed by a pump and excellent pressure feed efficiency, losing its fluidity immediately after spraying and capable of thick spray coating, and moreover, free from floating from a steel frame surface due to shrinkage and danger of the occurrence of cracks, having excellent refractory performance and yet not containing inorganic fibers. This composition comprises a slurry portion and an aqueous aluminum sulphate solution portion that are joined, mixed and sprayed by a spray nozzle, and the spray portion contains (A) at least 20 wt.% of gypsum on the basis of the total solid content, (B) 5 to 40 wt.% of slaked lime and/or quicklime and (C) organic fibers and/or light weight aggregate and water as the indispensable components, and the content of the refractory performance improving elements after drying is at least 20 wt.%.

Fireproofing compositions for steel structural members comprise a hydratable cementitious binder, shredded polystyrene aggregate, an air entraining agent, and a fibrous material. On addition of water, the compositions form settable, sprayable slurries which can be pumped to the point of application. The slurries are capable of spray application to steel structural members and adhere to the member in the slurried state and after setting. Excellent fire and heat protection is provided to the member despite the organic nature of the polystyrene aggregate.

Lightweight concrete incorporating expanded polystyrene beads is made by first coating the expanded beads with an aqueous surfactant solution, which preferably contains a substantive cationic surfactant, e.g. a substituted or ethoxylated quaternary ammonium compound containing a C 10 to C, 8 alkyl substituent or an ethoxylated primary or secondary amine having a C 10 to C 18 alkyl substituent, and a non-ionic surfactant such as an ethoxylated primary or secondary alcohol or a nonylphenol - ethylene oxide condensate. The wet beads are coated with dry cement and then mixed with a further supply of cement, water and sand or aggregate to complete the concrete mix.
