Provided are a shrinkage-reducing agent for a hydraulic material and a shrinkage-reducing agent composition for a hydraulic material each having high general-purpose property. Each of the agent and the composition does not require a combination with any other admixture, is inexpensive, suppresses a reduction in strength of a cured article, suppresses the generation of a crack in a cured concrete body by virtue of its excellent shrinkage-reducing function, and shows such good compatibility with a water-reducing agent as to impart an excellent water-reducing function. Further, each of the agent and the composition can improve the quality of entrained air with an antifoaming agent and an AE agent so easily as to be capable of imparting excellent freezing-thawing resistance to the cured concrete body to improve the durability of the cured concrete body. The shrinkage-reducing agent for a hydraulic material of the present invention includes a compound represented by the general formula (1): R 1 -[O-(A 1 O) m -R 2 ] n (1), where: R 1 represents R 1 derived from a polyhydric alcohol represented by R 1 -[OH] n ; A 1 O represents an oxyalkylene group having 2 to 18 carbon atoms; R 2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms; m represents an average addedmole number of oxyalkylene groups A 1 O's; n represents 3 or 4; and when n equals 3, m represents 30 to 150, and when n equals 4, m represents 5 to 150.

The lime-free admixture compositions are total replacements for lime. The lime-free admixture compositions are non-corrosive, making them safe to use by workers and they have rheological properties that make them suitable for use in various applications including concrete, mortars, grouts and stuccos (renders).

The present invention describes a weight-reduced insulating mortar which has a density of less than 300 kg/m 3 in the hardened state, comprising at least one inorganic binder chosen from cement and lime, in an amount of between 50% and 95% by weight relative to the total composition of the mortar, at least 1% by weight of a polymeric adjuvant relative to the total composition of the mortar, at least 0.2% by weight of a rheological adjuvant relative to the total composition of the mortar and, optionally, aggregates, wherein said mortar comprises at least 70% by volume of weight-reducing fillers having a thermal conductivity of less than 55 mW/m.K, relative to the composition of the mortar, said fillers being chosen from expanded polystyrene, aerogels, hollow glass microspheres, expanded glass beads, cenospheres, vermiculite and perlite, and in which at least 10% by weight of said inorganic binder is substituted by a pozzolanic agent.
