    摘要: In a state wherein an actuator (22) is located at a shunt position, when an apparatus is subjected to an external shock, the actuator (22) tries to swing due to a rotational moment. An inertia arm (7) generates a rotational moment simultaneously with the actuator (22). Both the rotational moments competes with each other at an engaging point of the inertia arm side with the actuator side to absorb the external shock. Further, the actuator (22) tries to excessively swing exceeding the limit of the original swing range during the operation of the apparatus. In order to prevent this, the inertia arm (7) is used.

The method for controlling a disc drive using a counter-electromotive force comprises (a) detecting a voltage applied to a voice coil during a predetermined mode, (b) performing an operation of the value of the counter-electromotive force using the voice coil voltage detected in (a), (c) comparing the value of the counter-electromotive force operated in (b) with a predetermined threshold, and (d) when the value of the counter-electromotive force is equal to or larger than the predetermined threshold, controlling a voice coil motor and a spindle motor so that a current mode is stopped and a parking or unloading mode is executed.

An actuator (22) has a voice coil (51) and a head slider (14) carrying a magnetic head, the actuator (22) being swung to move the magnetic head over the disk (11) between an innermost position (Pi) of the data zone and an outermost position (Po) of the data zone. A magnet has a magnetization center (58) and is opposed to the voice coil so that a voice coil motor (23) which swings the actuator is formed, the magnet having a north pole and a south pole confronting each other via the magnetization center. The magnetic disk device is provided so that a deviation of a center (C) of the voice coil (51) from the magnetization center when the magnetic head is in the innermost position of the data zone is substantially equal to a deviation of the center of the voice coil from the magnetization center when the magnetic head is in the outermost position of the data zone.
