    摘要: A disk apparatus includes a disk (23) in which information is recorded, a carriage arm (26) having a head slider (27) provided at a tip thereof, the head slider moving over the disk during a read/write operation and being placed at an evacuated position outside an area of the disk during a halt of the disk apparatus, a support base, and a inertia latch mechanism (29) which slides on the support base (21) from an original position to a latch position in response to an impacting force so as to latch the carriage arm (26) when the disk apparatus is impacted, and slides on the support base (21) from the latch position to the original position by disengaging from the carriage arm (26) after dissipation of the impacting force, wherein the support base (21) and the inertia latch mechanism (29) are in contact with each other through at least one raised portion that prevents a single surface-to-surface contact from being dominant between the support base (21) and the inertia latch mechanism (29).

A first protection film is formed on the surface of the slider body to cover a boundary between the element-forming portion and the base portion to thereby prevent a lubricant of a magnetic disk from depositing on the boundary between the base portion and the element-forming portion. Second protection films are formed on the surfaces of the slider-flying rails to protect the magnetic conversion elements from being corroded and damaged. Further, when pneumatic bearings are provided on the slider-flying rails, third protection films are formed on the surfaces of the pneumatic bearings.

By such configuration of a head slider, when inertia force caused by external impact or the like is applied to the head slider, air layer formed between the air bearing surface of the head slider and the recording medium surface acts as an air spring while the head slider rotates in the pitch direction. Thus, the head slider hardly collides with the recording medium and ensures excellent impact resistance.
