The invention provides an improved flushing for wire electric discharge machines in taper cutting by aligning the direction of flushing flow with the current cutting angle, while the wire guides maintain their vertical orientation. The orientation of the flushing flow is controlled by a parallelogram linkage mechanism mounted between the upper and the lower wire guiding head and acting on the orientable nozzle. The flushing fluid is conveyed and deflected by a swiveling funnel element having an independent spherical bearing seat so that the hydraulic forces produced by the pressure of the flushing fluid are not transmitted to the parallelogram linkage mechanism. Cutting speed, accuracy and surface quality in taper cutting operations is improved.
