A roaming mobile communication system in which a roaming incoming call to a moving subscriber can be connected to a mobile communication network adopting a different roaming number assigning system. In order to connect an incoming call to a moving subscriber, the mobile communication system connects a first mobile communication network to a second mobile communication network through an interwork location register. The first mobile communication network is the network to which the in-area location register of the in-area network, where the moving subscriber exists when the incoming call is connected to the moving subscriber, allocates temporarily a roaming number. The second mobile communication network is the network to which the gate location register of the in-area network, where the moving subscriber exists when the location of the moving subscriber is registered, allocates temporarily a roaming number. The interwork location register is used for registering the location of the moving subscriber who is roaming and for allocating the roaming number when the incoming call is connected.

The echo canceler of the present invention includes a pseudo noise generator (11) for generating a certain pseudo noise. This pseudo noise is forcibly supplied to a transmission line for transmitting a far-end talker's voice. Here, in the case where the far-end talker's transmitting speech level is faint or the far-end talker is in a speechless condition, a certain correlation is established between the pseudo noise and a signal of the transmission line for transmitting the near-end talker's voice. Based on such a correlation as just mentioned, a coefficient for generating an echo replica is calculated.

Disclosed is an FSK signal multiplexer which combines the output signals from n m-ary FSK modulating means (5 1 -5 n ) by power combining means (6), where n and m are both integers equal to or greater than 2. The n m-ary FSK modulating means (5 1 -5 n ) shift their output frequencies in accordance with the sign of the input signals thereto based upon a common reference frequency signal from reference frequency oscillating means (8). Variable phase shifter means (47 1 -47 n ) for shifting the phase of the modulated signal from each m-ary FSK modulating means (5 1 -5 n ) and control means (48) are provided for setting the phase shift amount of the variable phase shifter means (47 1 -47 n ) so that the peak envelope power of the output from the power combining means (6) becomes small in accordance with the combination of symbols of the n input signals in synchronization with the timing at which the m-ary FSK modulating means switch their output frequencies in accordance with the input signals thereto.
